Movie Info

Following a bizarre accident on a desert road and an odd encounter with another boy about the same age, KK (Kristoffer Joner) returns to his hometown after a long period of estrangement. It's a cozy yet slightly spooky place, a rural locale with a massive waterfall, surrounded by a daunting forest, and filled with unpleasant memories: the memory of the abusive mother who practically drove KK away, and who is now mercifully dead. In her will, she left KK a home in the heart of the woods; entering the house and coming face-to-face with disturbing memories conjures up torrents of evil that lurk inside of KK - malice that he suppressed for years but that now manifests itself with devastating force.more

I had a whole rant to write but screw it. I don't feel like wasting anymore time on this movie so here it is in a nutshell: it's simplistic, slow and boring with a capital Z(zzzzz).

Hidden was selected as an entry at the After Dark Horrorfest. In this psychological horror tale, Kai returned to his hometown after his abusive mother died and left him her house in her will, strange things began to happen. It's quite decent but moved very slowly.

A Norwegian psychological horror/thriller featuring excellent cinematography and acting. The Norwegian forest setting sets the mood perfectly and slow pacing works great. Where the movie falls short is telling a cohesive story. We are provided various clues as to what's really going on, but they are so sketchy and contradictory, it's almost maddening trying to tie them together into anything even remotely conclusive.
