In Other News...Natasha Lyonne, Brad 'n Jen, and Kirsten 'n Jake

According to the NY Post, American Pie star Natasha Lyonne is in the intensive care unit of New York's Beth Israel Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for Hepatitis C, a collapsed lung, and heart infection. Lyonne's father confirmed her status in a televised interview Friday, suggesting that his daughter became infected three years ago while shooting the Auschwitz drama The Grey Zone in Bulgaria; reports of Lyonne undergoing methadone treatment, commonly used to fight heroin addiction, suggest the actress became infected through the use of shared needles.

The troubled actress has had a rough year already, stemming from a December incident in which she went berserk in her apartment building and threatened to sexually molest a neighbor's dog. Lyonne was consequently charged with criminal mischief, harassment and trespassing; her landlord, actor and ex-friend Michael Rapaport, later evicted her and printed a scathing public letter about Lyonne's bizarre behavior in Jane magazine.

Last April at her subsequent court hearing, Lyonne left the courtroom after 30 minutes, prompting the judge to issue a warrant for her arrest. She has since evaded the public eye and has reportedly gone professionally unrepresented for several months.

After breaking out in 1998's Slums of Beverly Hills, Lyonne co-starred in American Pie 1 & 2, But I'm a Cheerleader, Party Monster, Blade: Trinity and, most recently, this year's festival film Max and Grace.

...

It's official: the power couple formerly known as Brad 'n Jen are officially split. Last Friday, a private judge signed divorce papers ending the Brad Pitt-Jennifer Aniston marriage, making way for a whole new wave of media speculation over Brangelina wedding rumors. Pitt and his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie have not yet confirmed reports of their relationship, although the photogenic pair has been seen acting familial with Jolie's son Maddox and newly adopted daughter Zahara in recent months. Celeb-watchers giddy with anticipation will have to wait for over a month more to find out if wedding bells are in store for the duo, as neither Pitt nor Aniston can legally marry again until October 2.

...

And finally, are Mary Jane and Donnie Darko expecting a bundle of Tinseltown joy? Are-they-or-aren't-they couple Kirsten Dunst and sometimes-beau Jake Gyllenhaal have been spotted together -- shopping for pre-natal supplements. The two were photographed at a Los Angeles Whole Foods supermarket examining a box of Perfect Pre-natal vitamins with great interest as passers-by caught glimpses (and listened for baby talk), leading hopeful fans to believe that the on-again-off-again pair is indeed very much on.

Bad news about Natasha Lyonne. I'm hoping she pulls through this OK. It's a freakin' shame.

Very sad. Celebrity status sometimes brings out the worst in people.
