In the very first episode of this popular WB series, Clark arrives in the close-knit community of Smallville, Kansas via a spaceship in the middle of a meteor shower. As he grows up, Clark starts to notice strange things happening all around him. In the show's pilot, he meets Lex Luther (who will later become Superman's biggest enemy), the first of many Smallville residents who appear to be have been altered by the bizarre green rocks that spewed from the sky on the day of Clark's descent to earth. While battling these mutant humans, Clark must come to grips with his emerging powers while also keeping up the front of normality. By depicting Clark Kent as a semi-typical teenager dealing with his fair share of romantic and adolescent drama, SMALLVILLE has succeeded (across several seasons) in adding one more dimension to the legendary Superman myth.
