Russell (I HEART HUCKABEES) spoke to the press about his motivations behind making the movie. Explicitly detailing how he hoped the film would make a difference to the 2004 Presidential elections, Russell's comments were not met with approval by the movie executives at Warner Brothers, who handed the film back to him so he could find alternative distribution. Joined by fellow filmmakers Tricia Regan and Juan Carlos Zaldivar, Russell takes a look at the invasion of Iraq in the early years of the 21st century. The film offers a voice to people from widely differing viewpoints, with the ideas presented allowing viewers to make up their own minds about the motivations and reasoning for the war. Many battle-scarred veterans offer their voices, as well as members of the media, the Iraqi people, politicians, and other people whose lives are directly affected by the invasion. A fascinating film, SOLDIER'S PAY offers an honest assessment of a conflict that has wide-reaching consequences for Iraq, the USA, and the rest of the world. [More]
