The problems lie not in the movie's ideas or casting, but in the sitcom-like screenplay employed by writer/director Nancy Meyers, and in the inability of the filmmakers to cut the movie down to a reasonable length.

It's really no more than a coy wish list for all the women who ever wanted to bring Jack Nicholson to heel.

At times hilarious and definitely the best date movie in theaters, but that's not saying all that much.

Something's Gotta Give is trite and overly cloying for its own good to the point that the pretentiousness factor is as jumpy as Nicholson's devilish facial expressions

Nancy Meyers squanders the abundant talents at her disposal on a film whose look and vision seem to have been borrowed from commercials for cholesterol medications.

Something's Gotta Give is an entertaining romp with two fantastic actors, but a lack of concern for its story is ultimately the film's death.

This superficial romantic comedy wastes Keaton's blossoming performance (which Nicholson often steps on anyway).

Sending up Jack Nicholson's real-life penchant for dating younger women, Something's Gotta Give benefits greatly from his rascally screen presence.

Nicholson and Keaton aren't done justice by the picture's...extraneous, elongated twists and turns of the heart on its way to the pat ending you always knew would come.

Meyers couldn't resist living up to her predisposed reputation with an ending so false that it's almost indescribable.

Esperemos que seu sucesso nas bilheterias abra as portas para novos projetos protagonizados por atores veteranos. Quem sabe o filme não se redime desta maneira?
