Theresa Russell will join the cast of "Spider-Man 3," the Hollywood Reporter has revealed. She will play the wife of Flint Marko aka The Sandman who will be played by Thomas Haden Church. While details have been scant, it has been rumored that Venom, or the character who will later becomes him, will also make an appearance.

Tobey Magurie, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco are all set to reprise their roles for this third installment. Shooting will begin this month for a May 2007 release.

[Correction: Venom or the character playing play him has not been confirmed to be in the movie. At this point, it is still considered a rumor until an official announcement. Made the change in the copy to reflect this.]

dont know if your sarcastic, but just hearing about Venom get me so excited. Hes the best villian ever. He matches Spidey in every category, he's agile, quick, strong, even very intellegent, basically i don't think Spideys defeated him in a fair knock him down fashion. The only defeat I remember is using sound to separate Brock from the suit. I can't wait to see this battle, so it will be in Spiderman 4?

Venom
I read this info on Superherohype.com as well, but they didn't mention anything confirming a Venom appearance, or even Eddie Brock's character making an appearance. I'd be interested to know who released this information before I will actually believe it. Especially after hearing people involved with the movies talking about how they don't like him. I know that Sam Raimi doesn't care for Venom, so I'd expect to not see Venom for a while. Not in this one, anyways.

that really annoys me, so instead of Venom we're going to keep seeing the old school Villians which are really cheesy, come on, Sandman? Whos next? Dirt man? Water man? Metal man? What a snoozefest.

I hope it's just the "Man Who Becomes Him" that makes an appearence... Spiderman shouldn't take on two villains at the same time, it wont get t oshow the true elements of the bad guys...

I'll bet you guys at the end, "The Man Who Become's Venom" will turn into him... Leavign a HUGE cliffhanger for geeks all around the world.

Anyway... who the hell is Theresa Russell... I was getting excited before opening this, thinking Russell Crowe joined the cast :D

Venom!
They should have had him before Doc Ock!
He's a far more original character and better than doc ock and sandman.
By the way who is sandman. I never watched the old 60's sereis as a kid.
Venom kicks ass!

Venom WILL be in Spider-man 3. It was just in Variety either today, or yesterday. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Come on people keep up with the rest of the class. If you look at IMDB.com they've had up that Topher Grace is to play Venom, or maybe just Eddie Brock in this one, but it says "Venom" not "Eddie Brock". For a while they only said that Thomas Church and Topher were villians and that the villians were Sandman and Venom, but now it has the villian and actors linked. I also might sound like a dork here, but I think in Spiderman 2 they actually did have an Eddie Brock or at least mentioned him, in one of the scenes at the newspaper's offices, I say this because I remember getting excited that they were going to introduce Venom soon.

IMDB isn't the best source. They always screw up since info is based on user submittal. And yes, they mention Eddie, but it's in Spider-Man, not 2. They refer to him not being able to get a photo of Spider-Man.

Sinizine is right about IMDB being a poor source. IMDB doesn't have a real good means of filtering out rumor and conjecture.
