Spiderman is the most overrated movie in history next to when tomatoes were considered an animal before it was considered a fruit, then vegetable.

Hasn't this been out on DVD for a little while now? At least in Australia it has been, so I would've assumed this would be the same as in the States??

Six hours of extras cannot disguise the fact that this movie sucked. Perhaps the filmmakers will discuss how they took all the good ideas from Spiderman 2 and pretty much tossed them out the window for this dull sequel.

True. They should've ditched Sandman, had Harry and Peter go through some quarrels while having Venom being the main villain, have Harry and Peter work things out, and THEN have the final fight.

I'm buying this dvd because I've been a Spidey fan all my life and I don't care that Venom was practically screwed over in the movie, I still loved it.

Venom: most clearly mistranslated comic to movie villain ever. Wow, that'd make a good list actually, who else goes on there?

This movie was like Star Wars Episode 1 for me. I left thinking I liked it, because I wanted to so badly. But the more I started making fun of certain parts of the movie, the more I realized just how bad it was. Venom, in particular, was wasted. Sandman was a stupid, useless addition. Gah, need to stop thinking about it.

Protest!

I thought they handled Venom fine. When you look at the list of mishandled villians you have Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Dr. Doom, Galactus, and more that were handled far worse than Mr. Brock. I thought he was fine in the movie and that Topher Grace gave an entertaining performance.

Spider-man 3 ruled....Venom is just a poorly handled villian in the comics, and the movie reflected that. In fact, movie Venom is better than comic Venom, simply because Comic Venom never did anything....at least movie Venom killed Harry.

Still...listening to people whine is funny. You'll all buy this DVD, and you know it.

I enjoyed Spiderman 3. Sandman truly got the Raimi treatment and Venom was forced in by the studios. Not as bad as everyone claims it is, just as much humor, silliness, and drama as part 1 and 2. I think the black suit created unreal expectations. But yeah venom was handled poorly, Raimi was out to show us how much he hated the character, and it shows.

Still the Harry/peter relationship came to a thrilling and tear jerking conclusion. Sandman was great to see and the action scenes were exciting. If you can laugh your way past the Emo Peter comedic moments, (and yes they were meant to be humerous) then the rest is cake.

I agree with everything except Mr. Freeze. Sure the Governator might not have been the best pick for the job, but his basic backstory of turning to crime for his wife was left moderately untouched, and this is only shortly after B:TAS reinvented Freeze.

So the list goes something like...
1. Galactus. Giant space guy turned into a shroud of mist, nothing will ever be able to top this.
2. Venom.

IMO.

be warned, fellow rt bloggers aboout bashing this movie? or he will come!

yes that awful troll adkkon 3!!! yes, the man who thinks spiderman 3 was a great film

goes insane over anybody who challenges his godly opinion!! i thought it was okay and

was really upset with the Short change royal screw job venom got in the film. its

sad because if they had used venom as the main villan and just got rid of sandman,

{who was made beautifully but just isn't a better villan or character than venom},

than it could have easily been the better than the original and would rank as one of the

best movie trilogies in movie history and easily the best among superhero films. its

sad how only a few years ago, both x-men and spidey franchises were optimistically

performing well but now... all is lost. at least with x-men, i still give spidey hope.

Still, like i said... BEWARE THE TROLL IS LURKING AND YOUR CORRECT CRITICISM WILL

Bring His Wrath UPON US ALLLL!!!!

yes someone else saw it i was in....awe...at the unbelivable nerve of having Galactus space gas..they really have absolutley no concern for the comic book audiance i mean at least Venom did look like Venom even though i agree with just about everyone here but will take it one step futher I thought all the spiderman films left a lot to be asked for but see thats whats going on now they found a cash cow that restarted with the x-men people are going just becuase it's spiderman not becuase they are great films and the studio's know it hense making Galactus a giant ball of what ever it was..they just dont care at all. But now im going overboard it's not like they didnt mess up the first FF 4 film worst villians in modern comic book films...the movies themselves they are quickly thrown together and over hyped Only Batman Begins felt like a quality film even though i wish they would have shown more of the Scarecrow's fear gas and it's effects on the mind and not had what ever that guys name is play him but when in the dessert you dont complain about the water

Spider-man 3 could well be the most underrated film i've ever seen.

never thought i'd say that about a film from one of the most popular franchises of all-time, but it may be true. Some people overreacted SO BADLY to some scenes that were simply unnecessary [the entire emo/Jazz stuff] as well as the fact that one villain was only around for a limited time, and all of a sudden it constitutes the worst movie of all-time?! Spare me. This was much weaker than the first two, but it's definitely above the normal superhero crap we get [look at this year's other two superhero films: Ghost Rider and Fantastic Four 2 were both far worse-acted, less-visually-appealing, and worse-written than this film was]

a film being disappointing doesn't make it bad. Spider-man 3 is not a great film like Spider-man 2, not even close, but for entertainment value, it's a very satisfying experience.

the reactions were so over-the-top because no one expected it to be as "bad" as it was. Yes, it was better than FF and Ghostrider etc.. but no-one really held out high hopes for those. When things like Spiderman and Star Wars fail, they comparatively have a much longer way to fall, and because people have emotions invested in the stories, well, obviously they are understandably upset. Spiderman was quite possibly one of the biggest letdowns in history in this sense, because it was made by the same team, had all the same actors, yet was so distinctly different from two films that came before. There was no reason for it to F*** up the way it did. It's not like some hack director came in and took over the franchise.

I personally think the series was over-rated to begin with, for me, Spiderman 3 just highlighted all the wrong bits of 1 and 2. A lot of people have said after watching #3 again, it makes those prior one's less satisfying too. You get annoyed more by the performances and direction, because you know where it's all headed and you've lost faith in the abilities and commitment of those involved.

spider-man III sucked.

Spider-man III was boring.

Spider-man III was abused by the director who actually thought we'ed prefer to see a pile of sand over one of the greatest villians of all time.

Oh and did I say this....Spider-man III sucked, was boring, and a huge let down.

We all have our opinions, and who cares what mine is. But with so many people ripping on this movie, I just wanted to throw in my one cent, even though I've done it here before.

Despite a finale that felt rushed and contrived, I think Spidey 3 was a more entertaining movie than the first two. Yes, overall I think 2 is the best, but I was the most entertained by 3. I loved all the different story elements going on and blending into each other, I loved the Sandman--especially his transformation, I loved the humor (I always think about the goo under the microscope, with the one molecule bullying the surrounding molecules), the battles, and the unsettling feeling of most of the movie. It was a different kind of darkness than just Batman/gothic-type brooding. It was more a feeling of everything about Peter and Spidey's world being a bit off. Maybe that sounds like stretching to make it work in my mind to those who disliked the movie, but really, it was all there. I think Raimi balanced it all very well and took his time telling the story... until the end. (I think the worst thing about the rushed ending is when the butler tells Harry about how he knew that Spidey didn't kill his father. That seemed like a pretty stupid contrivance in the middle of all the elements coming together to make that whole mess of an ending work, I admit.)

Still, the movie was great.
