I for one don't want Raimi anywhere near Spidey 4 he did enough the screw up the last film and he shouldn't be given a second chance. You want him to stay away based on hating ONE MOVIE??? All three, that's understandable (however unrelatable), but JUST ONE??? I don't think that there is any way that they can bring him back now with the way they ended the 3td movie. Please. Whoever said Venom was completely destroyed? All a producer has to say is "yeah, but there's a couch stain's worth leftover and..... it slithered onto some chick named... I'm just making up a name here, now... FELICIA HARDY! Mmmmyeuh, dem's the hook!" (Reply to this) |

I have to agree though, the 3rd one sucked. Whoever thought it was a good idea to take arguably the most popular spidey villain in the last 20 years and give him 20 minutes of sceen time was an idiot. Personally I would love to see Night of the Hunter story line that McFarlane did in the first five issues of "Spider-Man" . Lizard and Kraven and a great story as well. (Reply to this) |

mysteriousone writes: on Oct 28 2007 11:28 AM In reply to this comment (#1230257) batman begins was a great movie, but batman will never ever reach the cinematic height of spider-man. i am not saying the spider-man movies were better, but the spider-man character has far more appeal then batman and that has long since been proven. the dark knight may make 300 million plus, but it will still not reach the heights of the first two spider-man movies domestically and any of th three worldwide. please save this post ang get back to me after the dark knight comes out and you will see. by the way i love both characters, do don't turn this into a debate. blank blank writes: on Oct 28 2007 01:15 PM mysterious one, nobody is dissing spider man's earning potential, of course it will always make more money than batman movies because the young kids who love spiderman wont go see TDK 3 times. batman just doesnt appeal to all demographics like spiderman does, especially since we've moved on from the schumacher batman movies and progressed towards the nolan movies. also, batman isnt CGI driven like spiderman is, so there isnt the visual eye candy factor. that being said, its time for spiderman to move past pandering to the babies. i think SP3 showed that any spiderman movie will bring in the cash, no matter what they put on the screen. every time i saw a spiderman movie, my one comment was "i would have absolutely loved it... if i was 11" (except for sp3, which i thought was just a mess). what they really need is a paradigm shift akin to what happened in the harry potter movies. the first two were really kid friendly, but starting with the third one, the series started to mature into more serious stuff. that's why i think they should go with a whole new creative team, to inject some new life and a new attitude into the franchise. i agree with the posters who said that raimi might have run out of new ideas. mary jane gets kidnapped, spiderman saves people from a burning building, there is a goofy montage with goofy music... yawn. as long as they dont get cheap on us and bring in a second rate director, lets give some one else a chance to bring spidey to life. i know he has a million things going on right now, but how about guillermo del toro? im all for lizard, but kraven would come off as a little cheesy one screen, in my opinion. and finally, to the poster who said Justin Long as spiderman... sorry, that would be incredibly crappy. mysteriousone writes: on Oct 28 2007 01:32 PM In reply to this comment (#1230411) i agree that it is time for a change and i don't have a problem with another quality director taking over, but while i feel the first two movies are kid friendly, they were still great entertainment for the fans of any age. i also agree very much with the harry potter comparison though, as i feel the series should mature into more adult themes and start to get away from the teeny bopper realtionship between him and mary jane. that being said though, spider-man is not batman, and should still stay true to what spider-man is. one of the reasons i personally prefer spider-man to batman (like i said i love both) is the humor and fun spirit of the character. i would like to see more of that as well, but not handled cheesily. mysteriousone writes: on Oct 28 2007 01:36 PM In reply to this comment (#1230393) no your not, but there are always people that find anything popular that they can't get into overrated. which means evrything is overrated if you personally don't like it. (Reply to this) |

Tyler Durden2000 writes: on Oct 28 2007 01:36 PM You know, Sam Raimi could have EASILY saved that movie with one scene: Gwen Stacy topless. Think about it, Sam. Think about it. PS - Spider-Man 3 made X-Men 3 look like Spider-Man 2. (Reply to this) |

MaxRobert writes: on Oct 28 2007 02:26 PM I think these spiderman movies are an insult to the source material. Why can't they just restart the whole franchise again with no more Raimi and silly versions of Peter Parker and Mary Jane? Take it from the beginning. Peter Parker didn't go with Mary Jane from the very beginning. Gwen Stacy was one of his real love interests before Mary Jane! Why couldn't they stick to the source material? Damn. Maybe make the movie R rated, that will never happen I know, Okey atleast make them more mature. I mean come on, these movies are kids stuff plus the ham fisted acting and dull love story, not to mention overall story. I despise these movies. And what about Venom? WTF! Now flame on me like the pathetic whiny b**** that I am. ; ) (Reply to this) |

I Am Remote writes: on Oct 28 2007 06:40 PM All the spider-man movies have been an insult to the source material. Everyone who says "1 and 2 were great but 3..." isn't noticing the fact that 3 was just the hack writing/filmmaking from the first two with way too much money and screentime. I could go on forever here... but I'll leave it at this: wait a while and reboot. Raimi is to stay away from all things Spidey. He has his shot. And to whoever was arguing that Spider-Man is better than Batman... or challenging that Nolan is inferior to Raimi (and his apparently mentally handicapped brother Ivan)... that's a long row to hoe, my friend. Darko34 writes: on Oct 28 2007 07:22 PM WoW. For individuals who watch movies, some of the responses are on a third grade level. I'm hoping most you are not serious. Having read several Spidey comic in my lifetime, they usually contained moments of humor, whether you like it or not. Spiderman is not mean to be some oscar-caliber story that is going to move the masses, it's a popcorn movie and the movies can create and follow their own rules (Hence Gwen not dying at the hands of the Green Goblin), let loose of so many damn expectations and just let the film take you on a ride, and enjoy the film for what it is, escape from Reality. If you want superb storyline and oscar acting, save it for films like "Reservation Road". Horror/Fantasy and Sci-Fi are 90% of the time devoted to eye candy and invoke fear/wonderment/or a smile. As for the lame comment by Sickofitall " wow no haters i can not believe it hopefully there all out with there faggit boyfriends" ---The inability to spell, even hateful words only allows us to see your true ignorance and idiocy. mysteriousone writes: on Oct 29 2007 03:58 AM In reply to this comment (#1230916) i wasn't arguing that raimi was better than nolan. i will argue that spider-man 2 was better then batman begins, although both were great. i will also argue that spider-man 3 for all it's faults is not worse then batman forever and not even close to as bad as batman and robin. As for the charcters, both COMIC characters are fantastic, which i stated, but i personally feel that spider-man is the better character. The key word is PERSONALLY, but you obviously chose to read only what you wanted to read to provoke a "my character is better then your character" debate. both charcters are on equal stature of pop culture relevance, so it isn't really that "long a hoe to roe".
