Policeman Wang Hsiao Ming (Alfred Cheung) is assigned to Hong Kong's West Bay, also ominously known as Ghost Bay, where there are only two rules: Don't be curious and don't talk about ghosts. Unfortunately, a group of teenagers and Wang's superior don't believe in the supernatural warnings, and the result is briny mayhem. Mixing the deep-sea suspense of JAWS, the supernatural possessions of THE EVIL DEAD, and unique Chinese beliefs about spirits and demons, SPOOKY SPOOKY is a fanciful entry in the genre of kung-fu horror comedy, which director Sammo Hung pioneered with his film ENCOUNTERS OF THE SPOOKY KIND. This film offers plenty of low-budget chills, including decapitations, a mischievous severed hand, and a funny scene in which everybody has to lick each other to see if one of them is possessed. Hung's wife, Joyce Godenzi, stars as Sergeant Pai. [More]
