Movie Info

Harry Truman was the stubborn old coot who refused to leave his mountain resort on the flanks of Mount St. Helens when she threatened to reawaken in the spring of 1981. Though geologists tried their best to get him to evacuate the mountain with the others, Truman refused to listen. Actual filmclips from the volcano's monstrous eruption are included to add a much needed dose of reality to the romanticized but true tale of a foolish man's demise.more

Audience Reviews for St. Helens

On May 18, 1980, this active volcano in Washington State rumbles to life for the first time in almost two centuries.

St. Helens is one of the greatest disaster movies of all time. It features a 70's style 2x4 fight, a little romance, a 30 mile an hour car chase, some honky tonk, a crazy, young scientist that no one will listen to, a crazy, old fart that cusses and owns a Pink Cadillac, sacrificed virgins... there is something for everyone in this movie AND it's based on a true story. It blows Dante's Peak away. If you like bad movies, this is one of those.

Don't listen to the dorks at IMDB, the hepcats at Amazon are calling this a cult classic.
