Star Trek (6 and First Contact), Star Wars (4, 5, 6), Alien (1 and 2), Underworld (1 and last one), Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Of course there are many others that are good. Can't forget Robocop (1), Terminator (1 and 2), Total Recal (not the remake), Resident Evil (1), Minority Report, Serenity, District 9, Matrix (1), and many more.

I would disagree. It doesn't "suck", as you so eloquently put it. It's a solid sci-fi/horror flick. Nothing great, but a decent enough movie with some neat production design and a hilarious Sam Neil(AGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!).

But, of course, it's just a matter of opinion, I guess.

Yes it's a scifi/horror movie and the others were pure scifi (even Alien 1 and 2). So I did stray a little there. Oops. Anyways, I thought it was a good movie. I like sci fi and horror movies. Event Horizon, imho, fit those two perfectly.

How the hell is The Godfather not on the list? It's generally considered one of the best films of all time.

Because The Godfather hasn't aged very well. The special effects aren't as spectacular as they used to be. Especially the scene where Don Corleone gets shot with a plasma cutter and loses his arms. Very fake looking.

Same with Twins. One of the best sci fi movies movies back in the day. If you watch it today, the special effects are almost as bad as The Godfather. Especially when Arnold shows his metallic hand to Danny, then Danny shows his bionic foot to Arnold. Very fake looking. Good thing Twins didn't have a plasma cutter, but it had plenty of lazers that could have looked better. Back then it was awesome, not so much now. It just doesn?t stand the test of time. I agree with you 100% David.

I'm not going o put them in order, but here are some that would be on my list:

Star Wars (1977), Star Trek II: TWoK, Star Trek IV: TVH, ST VI: TUC, ST First Contact, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi (hey, I was three when it came out and it holds a special place in my heart- Ewoks and all), Alien, Aliens, Predator, Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, ET, Terminator, Terminator II: JD, Jurassic Park (no aliens, space, etc., but had a large sci-fi feel to it- too bad other Michael Crichton novel adaptations didn't live up to JP), Blade Runner, The Day the Earth Stood Still (Original), War of the Worlds (Original).

I've never seen Metropolis- it's on my Netflix to-be-watched list. And there are others I'd add to this list, but can't think of them at this time... Good discussion! :)

I like Minority Report, but it wouldn't be on my top list. Love old-school Arnie films, though.
