I was a late comer to the Star Wars franchise, but fortunately before they made the dreadful prequels.
There are just too many good films in each individual genre to claim that any one film, let alone Star Wars, is the best film of all time. I personally prefer the 'Empire Strikes Back' in this trilogy. So in that respect I do agree with this reviewer.
But I recall the first time I watched this film, and indeed, this trilogy. And I remember being thoroughly entertained and ultimately blown away. Surprisingly enough, no one had managed to spoil the plot twist in the second film which always helps.
Star Wars does not induce a thought in any way. So, no, it is certainly not the greatest film. Because of John Williams, giving us the greatest composition in film history, Star Wars remains ONE of the greatest films ever made.
BUT, Avatar is a masterwork inside and out. When people stop attacking the film and actually analyze it for what it is, people will see the James Cameron indeed Out-Lucased George Lucas.
Sorry but what your saying is madness, the character development and story of avatar is miles away from being even remotely as good as a new hope and empire strikes back. Closer to Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith.
