This is really not a movie review, nor is it a negative one. More like a recap on the cultural influence of Star Wars. Plus, this was written for the special edition, not the original film. Why does RT include this or at least read the g*ddamn review??
Nelson shows a bias towards the cultural influence of Star Wars instead of giving an actual movie review. I think revoking his movie-critic license is in order.
It is a review. He's saying that Star Wars' mentality has transformed the movie industry as an incredibly low money-making machine, and that twas its goal from the beginning. I agree.
maybe, but i come here for reviews of the movie itself. it's not the movie's fault that people capitalize on success with abundant merchandising, so don't put down a great film for its' impact on the movie industry. kthxbye
with boldly ignorant statements such as these , it's no wonder the europeans see us as shallow and uneducated. Such comments actually make me want to hate the movie.
"Only a great movie could have the influence to become such icons or toys.
There are SO many elitist "intelligent" meanies on RT. Oh no, an obvious error in a sentence written online! He was saying only a great movie could have the influence to create the subsequent lovefest that came with star wars' fame and other movies' attempts at recreating the success. Don't be mean.
Hey Rob, you're an idiot... And Mysterious-F, you actually gave StarWars a lower rating than you gave "All About Steve"... So really you aren't allowed to talk anymore. RT should be contacting you shortly to revoke your membership.
It's embarrassing that whomever wrote this review is paid to actually review movies. This is a lamer excuse for a movie review than "just say no" is for an excuse to not do drugs. Next time you review a movie, actually watch it, don't go to Toys R Us to examine its impact on the child toy market.
You sir, are an idiot. The Star Wars series is one of the most iconic, influental film series of all time and yet you have the nerve to call them TOYS. Get some taste.

It was after watching "Star Wars" that James Cameron decided to stop being a truck driver and become involved in the industry, leading to "Avatar" and "Titanic," the top grossing movies ever made.

Your review is nonsense. I mean it. It does not critique the movie or review it. OF COURSE toys have been made from this film. It takes good/great films such as the Star Wars franchise to become good merchandise to target towards little kids.

He's just another movie critic who wishes he had the talent to be in movies like this.
