Comic-Con 2006: "Star Wars" TV Series; "Indiana Jones 4" Script; "Wonder Woman" Casting Info
Day 2 at Comic-Con is as hectic as Day 1. From the moment we arrived on the premise, it's usually a rush to get to one panel after another. Here are a couple of highlights from the "Star Wars" panel and my one-on-one talk with producer Joel Silver.
Star Wars
Steve Sansweet, head of fan relationship for Lucas Films, is on hand to reveal plans for 30th anniversary of Star Wars. There will be a Star Wars presence at the Rose Bowl (two floats!) and a special convention in LA during Memorial Weekend. He also revealed two new TV series. The live action series is planned for sometimes "this decade" and will take place between the Episode III and Episode IV while the CGI animated series is planned for 2008 and will take place late in the Clone Wars. He also mentions that there are no plans to release the "Star Wars" movies on the new hi-def formats like Bluray or HD-DVD unless there is a market for them.

Indiana Jones 4
On the "Indiana Jones 4" front, Sansweet reveals that David Koepp has been through a couple of drafts and if everything looks good, then pre-production will begin sometimes late this year or early next.

Wonder Woman
Joel Silver reveals that "Wonder Woman" will be an origin story and won't be campy like the TV series starring Linda Carter. The character will be in her late teens and a young, mostly unknown actress will be cast in the role.

![]() on Jul 22 2006 11:46 PM no ones commented on this all day so I will. I don't think the Wonderwoman movie will be good even though I think Joss Whedon is a genius. They say it won't be campy but look at the character. She flies an invisible jet for christ's sake. Second of all, wasn't the acting in the Star Wars prequel atrocious enough? Now they have to bring TV actors in? But I dunno, very few people can act as terribly as Hayden Christianson. Indy 4 will rule all!!! (Reply to this) |

on Jul 23 2006 07:36 AM In reply to this comment (#840752) Oh, I don't know. Your performance is pretty thin, pretending you're not excited about either "Wonder Woman" or the Star Wars series. Seriously, that "critique" of the acting in the Star Wars prequels is about as stale as yesterday's bread. Time to get a new act, don't you think? And if you are going to trash an actor, at least have the courtesy to spell the man's name correctly. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 23 2006 07:45 AM The Star Wars TV series has the possibility of working. It can grab the same type of audience that once liked Star Trek, but it will be fresher and newer and might actually stay on the air. But they need great writing and a lot of visual effects cash, so we'll see. It can easily tank. I'll be surprised if anyone cares about a Wonder Woman movie. But you never know, they could make it really good, but I just can't any interest for it at all. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 23 2006 12:14 PM "the character will be in her late teens" wouldnt that make her Wonder Girl? If they dont get someone as good as Lynda Carter (which sounds improbable) they should just skip the whole thing. Wonder Woman tv show campy, corny, cheesey?? Try fun and entertaining. on Jul 23 2006 01:56 PM I predict the Live action TV show of Star Wars will fail. The Animated show could DEFINATELY work. Did anyone watch Clone Wars Vol. I & II besides me? Being a star wars fan, I can still say that im overall im excited to see where Star Wars' future lies. (Reply to this) |
