I'd be worried they were gonna fuck it up, but Lucas did that already - mainly by casting Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. 'Revenge of the Sith' wasn't terrible, but man some of the acting in second trilogy was fucking dreadful...not all fault of the actors. Ewan Mcgregor had some of the most awful lines ever delivered on film. "You won't get away from us this time, Dooku!"... Oh man I cringed in my seat when he said that with a straight face.

I consider that good acting to actually be able to say those line without vomiting on your shoes. The worst line in the entire sequel is in attack of the clones when anakin compares himself to a grain of sand.

@Val Mordas - Are kidding man, that was just brillant, beautifully realized and masterfully executed. If a movie could be awarded for punchlines alone, that would have won an Oscar. Of course i can't stop laughing at what i just wrote, LOL.

kind of an interesting method to take with star wars. Im not sure exactly how well that will work but it cant be any worse than the prequels.

Actually, that does not sound like a bad idea, to be honest. I am not as interested in sequels to the first trilogy. I believe stand alone films would serve better, and they would not all have to do with the Sith/Jedi battles. Then again, that's what I think would work. Not sure if anyone else would agree.

In a perfect world, Disney would sort of sublet or rent out the SW franchise as Lucas did with the expanded universe in book/graphic novel form, and we could see many diverse visions. The richness of SW merits this approach and I'd love to see like an X-Wing movie franchise featuring Wedge, or Tales from Jabba's Palace, etc.. Maybe this is sort of what they're getting at here but I don't see Disney exploring all these options in a satisfying way on their own.

I sense that Disney is just going to make very generic, predictable, cliched sci-fi/action movies, with ultra-safe, mainstream storylines. The Jedi "stuff" and lightsabers will just be frosting. It will be Star Wars in name only. The only memorable Marvel movies as of late were the Iron Man ones, due primarily to Robert Downey Jr.'s acting. The rest, including Avengers, were mediocre, flat and disappeared from my mind almost as soon as the movies were over.
