That may have been true when he remastered the originals in the 90s (a botched attempt that does not go unremembered) but it's obvious he no longer gives a shit about the franchise. This is an attempt at a quick and easy cash-in, nothing more.

Other than the masterful Plinkett deconstructions (which were probably the best movie reviews I've ever seen), this is the best review of any Star Wars film by far. Pauline Kael would be proud. The line about the innovation of using a fully autistic cast nearly killed me.

And yes, if you gave some aspiring movie maker with no talent, minimal training, a $200 million budget and an A-list cast, and they wanted to make a sci-fi adventure movie, this is the level of quality one would expect. I'd never thought of it that way before but that is spot on.
