Hayden Christensen "Jumps" Back into Sci-Fi
by Scott Weinberg | August 11, 2006
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

After playing Anakin Skywalker in "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith," Hayden Christensen was expected to fade out of the limelight and eventually become a really easy Trivial Pursuit question, but it looks like Doug Liman wants the guy to anchor his new action flick. Back to Article

It's not the acting in the Star Wars movies that's terrible - if you gave Olivier crap-tacular dialogue like that, even he couldn't have pulled it off.

Or Life as a House. In which he does a very good job.

I could give a big long reason why Hayden's acting was "bad" in Star Wars, but it would come off as incredibly geeky (if im a geek with anything, its Star Wars) and it'd probably just come off as an excuse to most of you. The guy can act though, so good for him.

Just say it. It was Lucas's fault. Lucas managed to take a bunch of folks, many of whom can act, and turn them into gibbering idiots.

I still think the new movies are OK, though. But just OK.

I know people like to blame the script, but I think Ewan McGregor managed to do a great job anyways. So I'd say acting ability was a part of it as well.

I can just see Olivier delivering the infamous "Sand" line... but the difference with Olivier is that he would walk off and try to alter it.

Being a good actor, means being able to take the dialogue/setting/etc. and role with it (sorry, couldn't help myself w/ the pun). Hence the reason that HC and Natalie Portman cannot act (props to Ewan)... Being able to act with a "good" script doesn't make you a good actor -- being able to "act" in real life situations or extreme situations (e.g., retard, crazy, anything w/ a souther accent -- FU Academy) doesn't make you a good actor.

Once again, another reason that critics and anybody associated w/ the Academy are stupid. It's all bullshit, but, then again, we're all cows.

"Not if anything to do with it I have!!!"
Well maybe HC has some talent. I admit I never saw Shattered Glass or Life as a House...... But acting ,if I may, is an artform (along with writing) so really who is to blame?? Ewan gives whatever emotion he can to his role(s). That is what I didnt really see in HC. Acting is more than just speaking lines.

"I love cows and crazy retards with southern accents"

yeah, the writing and directing are more to blame for Episodes I through III than the actors' faults. the only real bright spots in the acting were Ian McDiarmid, Ewan McGregor, and Liam Neeson, and that's a testament to their acting abilities given the horrid directing (Lucas hadn't directed a film since the original Star Wars) and bad dialogue. even Sam Jackson came off very lackluster, and we're talking about one of the coolest motherfuckers in film!

I really thought that Sam Jackson was quite good in TPM. And Ian McDiarmid was just superb in it. But people don't look for that in TPM. All they see is Jar-Jar, and "Yipee", and that's it for them.

Saw Hayden in Shattered Glass and he was ok in that. Natalie Portman was brilliant in Closer....before these two movies I only really knew them from Star Wars and thought that they were both crap actors.

So I guess that just goes to show how rubbish the Star Wars movies actually were....

I have to agree with the earlier comment that despite the awful dialogue, Ewan Macgregor was the only cast member in the Star Wars prequels to actually pull it off. Still, since a lot of the sci-fi fans probably didn't see Shattered Glass (I know I didn't), perhaps this movie might redeem Hayden to some people. This is, of course, presuming this movie doesn't open at #10 and disappears the following week.

I love Star Wars LOVE IT! All the movies were wonderful to me, because they were all arcs in a great storyline/idea. I've watched tons of movies with all the actors in ROTS, and I don't think anyone of those actors deserve to be discredited. If you look at their other films...the acting was fine. It was the direction of George Lucas. Whatever the final scene looks like, isn't the choice of the way the actor acts...it's the directors/producers! bag on them instead.

After about the third post, that's what they've been doing. Read up on these things man. Oh and to bring up a topic that's probably been discussed before, why is it that Padme didn't show any signs of pregnancy yet the babies looked to be fully developed, not even a sign of premeturaty. And there were TWO of them, she should have been a ballon. And as for the acting... no comment. HC SUCKS!!!

Oh, that wasn't a comment on his acting ability, he just annoys the crap out of me
