Movie Info

When a bank robber takes up residence in a small town after having gotten away with half a million dollars, country life is disrupted by a former cop (James Spader) and a local police officer (David Keith). The two set off on a cat-and-mouse hunt for the robber and his true identity, as he was wearing a clown mask at the time of the holdup. The Stickup also features Leslie Stefanson. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

...a great example of a film that's unfairly fallen through the cracks.

Audience Reviews for The Stickup

The Stickup is a low-key crime thriller/noir that works largely because of the cast, and a decent, though imperfect script. James Spader has just the right amount of presence and charm to carry his role, and generally has some good chemistry with Leslie Stefanson. The script, though derivative, has enough twits to keep things interesting, though it has some notable dialogue deficiencies. The biggest failing of the film is the ending, which boarders on self-parody, but the first two thirds of the film are executed well enough to make it watchable.
