Stir kept me interested the entire time, but it was bit predictable.

Consensus: Kevin Bacon's acting is so genuine that it's creepy and director David Keopp knows how to create true suspense.

What started as a diversion... Tom Witzky (Kevin Bacon), husband and father of a precocious young son, finds his blue-collar Chicago existence altered after he is hypnotized at a neighborhood party. What started as a diversion turns disturbing as a post-hypnotic suggestion releases a subconscious power Tom didn't know he had. Maggie (Kathryn Erbe), his wife, grows increasingly concerned with the strange behavior of her husband and her son, as they become obsessed with the notion that there is an otherworldly presence living in their house. Plagued by searing headaches, horrific visions and the fear that his family is in grave danger, Tom is compelled to discover the source of the visions, even if it means unearthing a horrible neighborhood secret. Reviews for Stir of Echoes
After a compelling first half, the main echoes that this ghost yarn stirs up are of other movies.
Stir of Echoes falls flat during its final third when more prosaic issues of homicide and revenge enter into the story, but right up to that point it manages to sink its chilly fingers deep in the meat of your mind.
Second-time director David Koepp steers clear of silly pyrotechnics and empty show as he anchors his supernatural thriller in Tom's daily rituals, employing the racket of city life and intelligent sound edits to crank up the tension.
Stir of Echoes might have worked just fine a few decades ago, but it now seems too simply schematic to spook us as much as it wants to.
The movie that begins with a disquieting whimper of fear ends in a loud, improbable bang.
The story compensates for any discomfort because we are eventually given the light with which to understand, accept, and reconcile what we’ve seen.
As the movie unwinds, it quickly loses its eerie quality and settles in to a rather average who-done-it mystery.
