Audience Reviews for Straight A's

It's one of those odd movies that are suppose to have some kind of bigger meaning when it's over. It was sad and a bit on the boring side, but still enjoyable. Ryan really pulls out the better performance in the movie. The kids do a pretty solid job as well. Not too bad of a film, but one you can hit or miss. It really won't make much of a difference. But I like Ryan, Luke, and Anna's acting and thought it would be interesting with all of them in a film together. It wasn't great or awful and I more than likely wouldn't watch it again, but give it a chance if ya like! =]

The acting, and dialogue, in this was pretty good. The story itself was lacking, though. Too many long musical segments seemed to be just a way to fill time up rather than anything which drove the movie along. It was a nice unexpected ending, but even that didn't seem to have the right pace, or build-up. Not a bad movie, just not anything special.

"Straight A's" 10 Scale Rating: 6.0 (Decent) ...

The Good: I was dubious about Ryan Phillipe as a troubled Texas stoner, but he not only pulls it off but does an amazing job. Great characterization. A movie full of honest emotion and drama.

The Bad: At times, it felt like they weren't sure what to do next. It was like they had written the beginning and the ending, but weren't sure what to do in the middle so some scenes felt crammed into the film.
