Adapted from a novel by Louis L'Amour, Stranger on Horseback is one of Joel McCrea's shorter western vehicles, zipping merrily along at a mere 66 minutes. Good Western is full of visual style and a thirst for the rule of law.
The B Western works mostly because Joel McCrea plays his lead role with conviction and the Ansco Color is appealing.
