Cute and witty. Gellar did a fine job and was looking pretty darn adorable. I think Gellar and Baldwin had some good chemistry too. Sweet little film.

Nice chick flick style movie with a darker theme and a bit of an ick factor watching Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alec Baldwin get together. (I mean, honestly, as well as being a control freak, the guy was over twice her character's age!). I did enjoy this movie though and liked the realistic end to it.

The young and beautiful Brett Eisenberg (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is an up-and-coming assistant editor embarking on her first big job in the New York City whose life becomes changed when she catches the attention of very attractive and charming Archie Knox (Alec Baldwin), the editor-in-chief for a successful publishing house. They are soon dating despite the fact that she already has a boyfriend and he has a long list of past girlfriends and ex wives and is a lot closer to her dad's age than hers. The lovers soon move in together despite the objections of various folks in their respective lives, though, as expected, it's an affair that's inevitably fraught with complications as Brett's father who she desperately clings to become sick, she got a mean boss to deal with and Archie admits to a few problems.

This movie was really dumb. I'm glad I was able to exchange it for something else...

i really enjoyed this movie. i wasn't sure that i would simply because it was a straight to dvd film (as far as i know) and i had heard that it wasn't all that great. well i will never let that stop me from trying a film again because this is one of the sweetest & most romantically realistic movies i've seen. mostly i have to admit because of Sarah Michelle Gellar, if it hadn't been her, well i dunno if i would have liked it as much. she was wonderful, great acting, funny, endearing and i loved her decision at the end of the movie. i really liked how the movie was broken into sections with the little titles for each one, it made it unique and added a little extra something i thought. the soundtrack to this movie is good and goes well with all the events. i really liked it, SMG is amazing.

Don't make short stories into movies...they're short for a reason.

It appears that my beloved SMG/P is persisting with her post-Buffy Lucky Dip approach to choosing films. Lately, her movies tend to be quite clearly either a hit or a miss. Suburban Girl falls somewhere around the halfway mark. Surprisingly, this Straight-to-DVD rom-com (shudder...) is actually rather charming. The age difference between Gellar and Baldwin isn't too disturbing, and they seem to have quite a natural chemisty between them. And the soundtrack was groovy too. Having said that, it is part of my doomed genre of rom-com and there's nothing amazing or memorable about it such that I could rate it any higher than 2.5 stars. *UPDATE* The director, Marc Klein, gives a really honest audio commentary - he talks about many things that went wrong on the film, and gives some good advice to other first-time directors.

A fantastic movie! Absolutely love it. It's great to see Sarah Michelle Gellar in her own reprising role in a movie. Once again. She gives a phenomenal performance. Brilliant story plot, great music.

The name of the movie does not give it justice. A interesting and moving story of a women having to deal life choices with a hint of comdey. Baldwin and Gellar, cooked up a wondeful mixture or love and life.

I really liked the pace of this movie. I wasn't all that keen about Sarah Michelle Gellar having an affair with Alec Baldwin (eeewwww). Anyway, the movie is based on a couple of chapters from "The Suburban Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing". I actually got the book because I loved the movie so much.

So the first night I turned it off because I found myself extremely bored! Decided to give it another try & actually finished it. Wouldn't say it's supereb or anything, but it was alright.

I found Gellar & Baldwin to have no chemistry, so it was hard to root for them, plus the fact that he was so much older than her grossed me out at times! Felt she was more like the daughter he was longing for to come back.

I did however enjoy the ending! I like it when they aren't always happy all the time, because that is more like real life!

bleh bleh bleh.. really boring, no happy endings, not a lot of humor. Just a weird plot of the young girl attracted to an older guy. Howcome we never see the older guy's daughter?

I loved this movie. You do have to be a sappy chick flick lover to enjoy it though. It is very cheesy - as are all Gellar movies - but I loved it.

An interesting look at one may/december romance. Painted in too broad strokes to have enough emotional impact to be a great film.

Better than average "emotionally moving Lifetime movie" about a young woman maturing into an adult. It can actually be better than that: just be semi-detached as you watch and the barrage of literary barbs make this a Rom-Com which the writer/director was too myopic to assess. Filled with Gellar's trademark face-pans, walk-bys, and tears; Baldwin is a sweet parody of his expressive, commercial self. I assume Scolari had scenes cut or he would have stolen the show.

This movie was horrible.
