Interview: The F&%^*#$ Awesome Guys of Superbad
Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse drop some knowledge.

The self-professed "boring" guys of this Friday's Superbad -- Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse -- are awfully hilarious together, on and off-screen, making for an especially amusing press tour. We caught up with the trio at a San Francisco roundtable (though Jen already had the pleasure of meeting both Hill and Chris "McLovin" Mintz-Plasse at Comic-Con) where the stars of this week's hormonally-charged teen comedy held a table of journalists thoroughly entertained with talk of Superbad, celebrity, and Hill's particularly vulgar Lindsay Lohan impression.

Superbad, of course, is the Greg Mottola-directed ode to best friends, boobs, and booze, a sweet (really!) high school tale as seen through the eyes of two average guys. In any other teen flick, these kids aren't the popular prom king or the captain of the football team -- they're the shrimpy guy who gets nudged in the hallway, the horndog who can't talk to girls, the nerdy kid convinced of his own coolness.

Like this summer's other crude-humored hit Knocked Up, Superbad is touched by comedic greatness (produced by Judd Apatow, written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg from their own experiences). With Hill's schlubby Seth, and Cera's socially petrified Evan -- not to mention the coolly confident, street slang-spewing Fogell, AKA McLovin -- Superbad is about to lead a geek revolution for the MySpace generation.

Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Michael Cera

Q: How'd you guys like Comic-Con?

Jonah Hill: I met Zach Galifianakis there. I embarrassed myself. You know how when you meet celebrities, you're supposed to play it really cool? Like you're not a huge fan of theirs, you know? I did not do that, in this circumstance. I was like, "Oh my God, you're my favorite comedian!" And I made him take a picture with me. In the picture I was like (makes excited face) and he was like (stonefaced). He's so funny. But I kind of blew any opportunity of us ever having an equal conversation, you know?

Chris Mintz-Plasse: No way. He'll forget about it the next time you meet him.

Jonah: No, that's not true. You don't forget someone...I aggressively fanned out on him, like so hard. I [also] took a picture of Josh Hartnett. While he wasn't looking.

Chris: Josh Hartnett actually came up to Michael to tell him he was a huge fan of Arrested Development.

Jonah: No way, really?

Michael Cera: I told him I was a huge fan of his physique.

Jonah: I remember Seth [Rogen] and Evan [Goldberg] talking about, when they saw The Faculty. They were like obsessed with Josh Hartnett from The Faculty. You should print that!

Chris: Yeah, that'll embarrass the s*** out of them.

Jonah: They were like, "There's this guy named Josh Hartnett, he's really great!"

Q: So you liked Iron Man at Comic-Con?

Jonah: I couldn't believe how funny that was; Seth [Rogen] and I were going to go pee -- not together, we were just walking to the restroom -- and there was no private bathroom for the people backstage...not for us, no one cares about us, but real movie stars were backstage and I was like, if Iron Man has to take a s***, is this where he goes? And Seth and I were laughing and then we walk in there and Robert Downey Jr. is in there washing his hands! In a suit! He's just hanging out there...it was so weird, Iron Man was in there...I'm not saying he was taking a s***, I don't know what he was doing...well anyways, Superbad is like a really great movie. This is going terribly (referring to the interview in progress). For me.

Q: What did you think when Chris showed up?

Jonah: We were blown away. He did it exactly how he does it in the movie, with no additional prompting. He was McLovin off the bat.

Q: Do you have any fears that after this movie you'll be walking down the street and people will be like, "McLovin!"

Chris: I take that as a compliment. That means that they like the character, they like the film. I don't know what it's going to be like in 40 years, you know, if people are still calling me McLovin. I did a short film with Curtis Armstrong -- you know, Booger from Revenge of the Nerds. And he got the first ten minutes on set, the prop guy was like, "Hey, you're Booger from Revenge of the Nerds!" And the whole rest of the day he was pissed off. So I hope I'm not like that in 40 years, but I guess Booger is a worse name than McLovin. (Laughs)

I agree blank blank. When watching Superbad I kept thinking George Michael would never do or say that.
