Snyder sucks? Really, granted he really hasn't had a perfect film, I wouldn't go that far. Watchmen and 300 were pretty good, so there is hope he can direct a great comic adaptation. I believe this film will be his best like you said.
We have to remember that this movie isn't just Zak Snyder. Zack isn't even a bad directer, especially when it comes to visuals and you can tell he's brought his A game to MoS. The story is written by David Goyer who wrote the Dark Knight Trilogy and Chris Nolan, who is already a legend, is producing.
Watchmen, although it really did feel like 3 hours sometimes, was absolutely epic and one of the best movies I've ever seen in my opinion and 300 was pretty badass.
My only worry is that at 2hrs30mins (roughly) it might not be long enough if they're telling Superman's whole life story up to the end of his first major battle like it seems they're doing in the trailer.
But does any of this matter because let's face it... just look at the trailer and try not to wet yourself.
Eh...I think Snyder is a good director. Sucker Punch aside. Watchmen was great. Dawn of the Dead was one of the better horror remakes, and 300 was fun if a bit repetitive.
Didn't see the owl movie. Don't really care to.
As for Man of Steel, based on some cool trailers, I think it will be his best, surpassing Watchmen. It'd be nice to have a good modern Superman movie.
300 was great, Watchmen is one of my all-time favorite comic book films, Legend of the Guardians had some of the best CGI animation since Lord of the Rings, Dawn of the Dead was one of the better horror remakes in recent memory, and Sucker Punch made for some entertaining eye candy.
I've never actually read any of the comic books he's adapted, but his films for the most part "okay". Nothing special, to be honest. That's why I fear Man of Steel may not be very good; but then again, it might just be his best film yet.
Hollis, I beg to differ. Night of the Living Dead is one of the greatest American horror films of all time. I did enjoy the Dawn of the Dead remake, though.
no no no, i should rephrase myself. i only meant that there were a few that really just werent good. you and david both gave great movies, i enjoy romero myself. its just that he made movies not up to his standards, not all of them, but some
Everyone has their own opinion, but I enjoyed Dawn of the Dead.
300 was a perfect adaptation of the comic. (In fact they had to add a few scenes or else it would have been too short)
Watchmen was said by many to be impossible to film. I praise Snyder for having the balls to tackle it, and I thought it was about as great as a Watchmen film is ever going to be. That source material is incredibly hard to condense into a few hours.
Suckerpunch is impossible to defend, but the visuals allowed me to finish it. The guy can work magic behind the camera, but just don't let him write the story.
I think Man of Steel will be great, because it has what many claim is a fantastic script. (which is why there are actors like Shannon and Adams doing the film) Combined with Snyder who has a great eye for visuals. We will just have to see though.
I agree, that Watchmen movie is as close we'll ever get, just like Peter Jackson's LOTR films are as close to the book as we'll ever get (until Hollywood chooses to piss on it and cash in on a remake in a decade but that's beside the point). So yes, we'll just have to see.
Dawn of the Dead: Boring
Watchmen: Too much boobs over story; and boring
300: Mostly OK but sometimes pretty boring.
Legend of the Guardians: Cliche, though visually remarkable, yet still pretty boring.
Sucker Punch: Fucking retarded.
Watchmen had too much boobs? What? That movie had too much purple dick. Matter of fact it shouldn't have one in it. Then again, there are trolls (Lo) out there that like that kind of stuff. Boring? I wouldn't say that is was boring, but it wasn't perfect either. I would give it the same score I gave oblivion, 70%. And I thought that Oblivion was going to be a badass movie. I knew from the trailer that Watchmen wasn't going to be badass. Like you said, each to his own opinion.
