Completely agree. Man of Steel may have been a bit too serious but it had a lot of dramatic tension, the origin story was worth re-telling and the conflict between Superman and Zod actually worked. Zod was also a compelling villain. Iron Man 3 was more like a parody of Iron Man. The villains were one-dimensional punchlines and there was no dramatic tension in the conflict (if you can call it that) with the characters.

I would put MOS right at 80% Very good movie! Ironman 3 was probably about a 60% for me.

People can hate on Iron Man 3 because of what they did with the Mandarin, but you can't hate it more than Man of Steel. At least with Iron Man 3 you get an interesting character in Tony Stark, and some fun action that kept me entertained for the most part. Now at this point you probably think I'm a Marvel fanboy, but I'm not, I like both DC and Marvel equally. However I know a bad film when I see one, and Man of Steel was a bad film.

I liked Man of Steel better than Iron Man 3. A little dreary, but not as empty and superficial as Iron Man 3. Flash! Bang! Pseudo-witty comments! Woo Hoo!
I might understand 68-74%, though. MoS' CGI ending did get bloated. Looks like a few million people got killed.
Also better than Superman Returns. That looked like two cool scenes and some bland ideas pasted together.

Both Iron Mens 3 and Man of Latex deserve no more than 50%. These movies are merely CGI money grubbing unoriginal movies.

The critics don't seem to like it, but most users will. I enjoyed it. Just watched it, and I plan on seeing it again
Jun 14 - 12:21 AM
Seriously? What's with all the hate for IM3. It was a good movie. Far from perfect but good. AS SOMEONE WHO HAS ACTUALLY SEEN THE FILM, I agree that Man of Steel doesn't deserve the low rating but it is definitely not a high 90's to 100% film. It's a mid-80's movie at best. It was entertaining enough but felt pretty empty. Of course, that's just my opinion.
Jun 12 - 07:54 PM
You're on a forum about Superman. There's gonna be rabid DC fanboys who are jealous of Iron Man 3's success.
Jun 12 - 08:37 PM
I'm a marvel fan, and I really didnt like i-Man 3. I liked i-Man 1 and Capt Murica 1 and Avengers, but definitely not i-Man 3.
Jun 12 - 10:38 PM
Haha. Yeah, I thought so.

Haha. No. People hate Iron Man 3 because of it's terrible plot twist that spit in the face of comic fans.
Jun 14 - 12:13 AM
I totally respect your opinion but I thought the plot twist was brilliantly-executed, hilarious, and it worked well within the context of the film. I understand the disappointment, though.
Jun 14 - 12:51 AM
For someone who prefers DC but understands Marvel...I thought Iron Man 3 was better but it wasn't TOO good. I'm glad I saw it but I'll probably not watch it again. And yes I hated Man of Steel.
Aug 4 - 07:12 AM
if you like video game level action... you'll like Man Of Steel... tons of action yet none was memorable... Iron Man suit getting smashed by the truck surprised the hell out of me... you won't get that in Man Of Steel...
Jun 12 - 07:11 PM
Deal with it
Jun 12 - 06:52 PM
Superman Returns is at 75% and I hated that movie, and something tells me this is going to be a hundred times better. I could, of course, be wrong, but I pretty much just ignore the tomatometer now. I check it out of curiosity.
Jun 12 - 06:41 PM
Have you even seen it yet?
Jun 12 - 06:15 PM
Why does there have to be a lame competition all the time between Marvel and DC? They both make great and subpar films. I enjoyed the Iron man trilogy but my favorite of all time is TDK. And I'm hoping Man of Steel will be my second favorite after a couple sequels are made
Jun 12 - 02:45 PM
So, this should be in the 90s - 100s just.... because.....
Good job at saying absolutely nothing.
Jun 12 - 02:09 PM
because if its score was relative to Iron Man 3, considering Iron Man 3's high score, it should get a near perfect score
Jun 12 - 02:13 PM
Nope. This just means that this is crappier than Iron Man 3.
Jun 12 - 05:39 PM
How? After all, General Zod isn't an actor, Clark Kent isn't a whiny pussy with frequent anxiety attacks, and Lois Lane doesn't save Clark's ass twice while wearing a Superman suit.
Jun 12 - 05:41 PM
Agreed. IM3 was the worst CBM film i've seen yet. Man of Steel is way better. FACT!
Jun 12 - 01:30 PM
you should definitely google the term: "fact" lol

You belong in the 20% range.

Oh look! This thread again.
Come on, Magoo.
Jun 12 - 12:31 PM
Maybe this film isn't all that great which is why it's in the 60% range.
Jun 12 - 12:19 PM
My point is that even if this film isn't that great, it is still tenfold better than that trainwreck.
Jun 12 - 12:45 PM
Oh, so you've seen it?
Jun 12 - 01:48 PM
No, but I know General Zod isn't an actor, Clark Kent isn't a whiny pussy with frequent anxiety attacks, and Lois Lane doesn't save Clark's ass twice while wearing a Superman suit.
Jun 12 - 02:39 PM
Well, that's why you didn't like Iron Man 3, but that doesn't mean Man of Steel is flawless. It has problems hence the low rating.

I still don't get the hate Iron Man 3 is getting, sure it isn't as good as the original or the Avengers, but it's still a lot of fun.
Exactly. Iron Man 3 was a fun movie to watch. Man of Steel was depressing, overlong, and made no sense.
