A Truly Fantastic Scandal

Isn't it amazing how Man of Steel has stayed at 82% audience rating without fluctuating up or down at all, despite all of the terrible reviews the audience has been leaving on this site. Hmmm. Well, Warner Brothers owns this website and produced the film. So maybe it isn't so weird.

Or if you noticed the rating has been stunk on 81,641 for 6 months and has not been changed. This website has its bugs at times. Ooo sorry when i meant bugs i did not mean to offend you.

I, Michael Bay, am a testament to the power of capitalism. I started as a nobody but through hard work and a belief that what the people want the people should get I became the highest paid living director. I give hundreds of people jobs every time I make a movie. If you don't like it go head to socialist Europe.

Everything has a price. Of course you can buy ratings...especially online ones, even easier to manipulate behind the scenes.

The audience reviews refresh every week. It takes them some time to process. It will probably go down a good 10-15% soon.

In other news, you are the 1,000th Troll here at RT! Yaaay! Here's your trophy and ribbon. Present it at any Trollfighter forum to get 1/2 off of anus-asunder-tearing.

Well, I wouldn't call Diego a piece of shit, but I would say that that is a retarded excuse for a corporation. The critics review meter goes up and down constantly, but the audience meter has to wait a week? HMMMMMMMMMMMM. You do realize that a high audience meter equals a lot more tickets sold, because people go to the page and see a high audience meter and go, "Well, a lot of those critics are old bastards. But the audience likes this film as much as The Godfather and other classic American cinema. So it must be good. Gotta go see it."

There are only about 500 or so critics on RT. Their reviews take less processing. Thousands of audience reviews pour in every hour. We've seen this phenomenon on A Good Day To Die Hard (which sucked). It stayed at 82% for a week, then dropped to 65, and then to its final resting place at 44. I hope this helped you. I know you're new to the site, so you get the benefit of the doubt.

As for you, Rainbow Sprint: *You're, *Diego, *shut the fuck up. Use correct capitalization and punctuation next time and maybe I will pay attention to your nonsensical comments.

If you've been paying attention to the way the studios have been ass-raping teenagers caught in Europe, Australia and the US downloading their films on torrent sites, you'd notice that these corporations are complete bastards. This is why I don't trust them.

You could be right about this. Perhaps Warner and Fox don't have some sort of an inside deal going on where they help boost each other's ratings to generate more box office sales (though from a business standpoint of course they do).

But they sent out over 25000 copyright infringement notices to teenagers all over the world demanding a $2000 settlement fine be paid for downloading the film The Hurt Locker. The $2000 settlement was offered to all 25000 people so they could avoid prosecution, which came to over 50 million dollars in fines. The film itself only made 17 million in the box office.

They are corporate bastards, they are obviously lying on the meters to generate more money for shallow films that offer nothing to culture and depth, the way the old movies used to. That's my view on the whole thing.

I realize you have different views, and i respect that. But it doesn't change what I know. I just finished a 16 page report on the Motion Picture Association of America and the fact that they blame downloading teenagers for lost revenues, when in truth they increased box office sales by 54% in the last 10 years despite the recession.

You blame corporations for forcing stupid things on people; I blame stupid people for eating up stupid things from corporations. You'd think there's some common ground, but... no.

If I see a fat-ass southern fuckface hick on a Rascal going into Wal-Mart, I don't think the company is controlling him and that he's being oppressed. I think he's a fucking stupid shithead excuse for a human being.

Although we both have lost faith in society, you've just lost faith in corporations, and I've lost faith in all of humanity.

They downloaded the movies illegally. They had it coming to them. Also what is wrong with WAL-MART? It's a freaking store!

Playing devil's advocate, I actually agree with Susan to an extent. I'm also well aware of the unfair blame placed upon teenagers by corporations in an attempt to make more money than they already have. However, at the same time, I'm not going to dwell on it either. Corporations are despicable and as far as I'm concerned, capitalism is a joke. I'm just not going to let it have any effect on my daily life because there isn't a damn thing I can do about it. You would lose your mind if you focus on all the corruption in this country 24/7. That's what movies are for. Just relax and enjoy them for what they are.

Let me reiterate what Keon said- there's no way Man of Steel would be rotten right now if Warner Bros. owned the site. Where's the logic in that? For the record, I was disappointed with the movie, but that bullshit conspiracy theory you're hinting at is just that- bullshit

Listen Mark, just pay attention to the Warner Brothers films that come out and watch the meters closely like I do. I'm a film student and I have a fucking HUGE interest in global trends related to cinema viewership, particularly during theatrical releases. So I have been all over this for quite awhile. And I'm not even asking anyone to take my word for it. Just watch the meters for all of the Warner Brothers films.

Dude what does Warner Bros. care about a movie review site? They broke record numbers in the box office, and they have the sequel underway. They don't give a fuck about RT. And neither do the people who loved the film who went to see it several times already

No it's not amazing, considering that on IMDB the rating is pretty much the same for audiences. If Warner Bros owned this site they wouldn't have allowed it to go rotten that's for sure. Go home Susan.

I am home, Keon. And if you were paying attention, The Hangover III was in the 80s for the first few weeks of its release, and then suddenly dropped to 48%. You're telling me that all of the sudden a large portion of viewers went to the film and had a sudden and novel adverse reaction to the film, thus unexpectedly sending the meter from the 80s to the 40s overnight? Don't think so.
