Most memorable movie deaths.

SPOILER: I'm still not sure what to make of Jonathan Kent's death scene. It seemed a bit ridiculous at first, but it was definitely original. What are some really memorable movie deaths? Here's mine:
1. Woody Harrelson- the Thin red Line
2. Vito Corleone- the Godfather- Very well done death scene.
3. Bill Murray- Zombieland
4. The toxic waste death in Robocop.
5. NOT THE BEES and burned alive in some unfortunate ritual- the wicker man
6.Sean Bean- He dies in lots of films so some of them were probably interesting.
7.Blade runner- after the famous monologue.
8.Pulp fiction- when he shoots Marvin in the face.
9.No country for old men- Llewln Moss's off-screen death was interesting,I think.
10.Alien- John Hurt.

I felt that the last 15 minutes of Kill Bill Vol. 2 made me hate the entire movie and even respect Vol. 1 less

They were talkier than the rest of the film, but that's no reason to HATE them.

Especially since all of Tarantino's movies are talky. Even the first Kill Bill had talking.

Has nothing to do with it being "talky", the entire movie was like that. It was the whole stupidity of the final showdown. First he shoots her with a "truth syrum" (like that isn't the stupidest fucking copout in movie history) then they have a long and pointless conversation before having a lame fight while sitting down and she hits him in the magic pressure points that make him fall down and die. 4 hours of running time just for that?

Lord Tutweiller

The five-point palm exploding heart technique is epic. But yes, I agree that the truth serum was kind of a cop-out. It's basically what lowered my score for Volume II from 10 to 9 stars. However, serums like that actually do exist.

Also, what about the melting Nazis in Raiders of the Lost Ark? Even if you didn't like the movie (which, by the law of averages, is unlikely), you have to admit that it broke new ground in cinema.

I was really shocked. It was gory as all hell for a PG movie.

Jun 24 - 06:14 PM

John Tyler

John Tyler McClane

Originally, it was more graphic, but it was threatened with an R rating. So they had to cut some more gory bits out to get a PG rating.

Jun 24 - 06:16 PM

Lord Tutweiller

Lord Diego John Tutweiller of Trolldonia

I remember reading a book about how it was done when I was six or something, so it didn't come as so much of a shock. But yes, they were originally going to have Belloq's face and entire body melt, but that wouldn't get a PG rating (back in the day they only had G, PG, and R), so they toned it down and had him channel the ark's energy before exploding.

Jun 24 - 06:32 PM

Lord Tutweiller

Lord Diego John Tutweiller of Trolldonia

Okay, I've been bitching about my picks not making the list all this time, so now for my list:

1) Melting Nazis-- Raiders of the Lost Ark
2) Hans Gruber's skydive-- Die Hard
3) The Bad-- The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
4) "You're terminated, fucker!"-- The Terminator
5) "Get away from her, you BITCH!"-- Aliens
6) Vince Vega's Pop Tart scene-- Pulp Fiction
7) Pencil through the head-- The Dark Knight
8) The Emperor-- Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
9) "Rose...bud..."-- Citizen Kane (yeah, it's overused, but it's classic)
10) Sauron's implosion-- Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Honorable mention time! I couldn't limit it to ten, so... here we go.

11) "The coin don't have no say."-- No Country For Old Men
12) Bill gets the five point palm exploding heart technique-- Kill Bill
13) Donny (and the eulogy)-- The Big Lebowski
14) Head explosion-- Cloverfield
15) Don Corleone-- The Godfather
16) "Let off some steam."-- Commando (actually, any time Schwarznegger kills someone)

That's all I could think of. Also among The Governator's best death scene quotes: "Fuck YOU, asshole", "You're luggage", and "SEE YOU AT THE PARTY!"

Here's how a guy on IMDb described it: "Amazing! Disturbing! Sick! One of the most original and goriest death scenes in horror cinema history!"

It pretty much sums up how iconic, shocking, and unforgettable that scene was.
