"When I was in college, first year, I saw it and I really hadn't been exposed to a lot of European filmmakers. It's such a 'film' film. It wasn't required viewing, it was just a film playing on campus and I hadn't been interested in film before then. Nowadays people are deciding to get into film at age five when they're sitting, watching the Oscars. I really didn't come out of that culture -- I was pretty much a John Wayne fan and that was it. Zabriskie Point was a time when I was in a lot of change and flux and these incredible visuals hit me like they had rearranged the organs in my body. The ending and the free-floating debris and everything is an image that burned itself in my consciousness."

Good list, its different for once. I haven't seen Pullman in a while which is a shame since he is a good actor. I think the last thing I saw him in was You Kill Me which was pretty good.

I think the last movie I saw with him in it was David Lynch's superb film Lost Highway. Nothing will beat Spaceballs though.

I recently rewatched Spaceballs after years of remembering it as one of the funniest films ever made.
It sucked, it aged badly and I'm pretty sure once one is mature enough, it just isn't funny at all any more.

Just like all Mel Brooks films.

ID4 stopped being a good scifi film for me when the Prez did his �ber-patriotic speech, talking to all Americans like it was the only country in the world.

Again.

I liked Bill Pullman in Arachnophobia.
His versatility is commendable but he's not that great.
A Jack-of-all-trades I suppose. Knows a lot but not really that good at anything.

Meh.

His movie choices are very different though. No Godfather??? FINALLY!

I loved him in Ruthless People. Not all Mel Brooks movies age poorly. I still think Blazzing Saddles will always be a classic (as long as it isn't an edited version). Movies like that can't even be made in this PC world. Don't forget that Mel has reinvented his own stuff for Broadway.

Lost Highway, Accidental Tourist, Igby Goes Down and Spaceballs all contained great and varied performances. I always feel he isn't given the props he deserves. Interesting list in that I have only seen two of them.

I agree with the comments about Spaceballs. I used to be convinced it was the funniest thing until I saw it again as an adult in the 00s. Oh, those simple days of youth...

'Zero Effect' was a good movie, it was just so under the radar. I don't remember even hearing about it until I saw it on the shelf at the video store.

I also loved him in 'The Serpent and the Rainbow'.

Oh, also 'Twister'!
