This gentle comedy drama explores aspects of love and relationships by featuring two parallel tales, both occurring in the same Vermont town. In one, the boredom faced by a married pair of high-school sweethearts leads to the destruction of their marriage. At the same time, their closest friend finally finds the love of his life.

Critic Reviews for Sweet Hearts Dance
Not only is the cast terrific, but there is a conscious attempt to evoke the feel of the season
An immensely likable comedy-drama.
Had director Robert Greenwald tightened-up the scope and made the characters more than static word vessels wasting air, I might have felt a gentle tug inside.
Underrated sweet story of what happily ever after really means.
Audience Reviews for Sweet Hearts Dance
Bland comedy-drama which misses in several key areas. It's a stretch to begin with that anyone as smart and lively as Susan Sarandon's character would put up with the selfish jackass that Don Johnson plays let along long for him to return.More
