A true story that has become part of legend, SWORDS OF VENGEANCE concerns the efforts of Oishi, loyal servant to Lord Asano. Asano is ordered by the Emperor to commit seppuku after drawing his sword on the corrupt Lord Kira. After his master has died and his lands have been split up, Oishi gathers together a large group of samurai who remain devoted to Lord Asano and his family name. They embark on a complex plot of revenge, determined to humiliate and kill Lord Kira just as was done to their beloved Lord Asano. Featuring Sonny Chiba (who choreographed the fight sequences) and Toshiro Mifune (who also starred in 1962's definitive version of CHUSHINGURA), SWORDS OF VENGEANCE captures a bygone era in Japanese history, when the honorable bushido code dictated the actions of men.
