So if a movie is preposterous it gets a rotten rating? Taken (which is completely preposterous) is meant to be a fun movie not Oscar worthy. "The film is never boring," good, then it did its job.
The Dark Knight was a preposterous premise, does that warrant a rotten rating?
I'm not saying your opinion is wrong or anything like that, but if a movie is fun to watch and you enjoy it, doesn't that deserve a fresh rating?
I liked Taken a lot. Women trafficking in Europe does happen, that is not preposterous. Maybe the rest of the plot isn't too likely to happen, but it sure as hell is extremely entertaining. The movie achieved its goal and is not a bad movie on any account. That should warrant a fresh rating.
Funny, the Bourne movies were also completely preposterous, were they not?
Yet the reviewer seemed to enjoy THEM.
Although I usually tend to agree with more of Mr. Berardinelli's reviews than not, I fear that he, as many other professional reviewers, are handicapped by their familiarity with the folks who bring us these movies. I suspect that at least some of the negativity in the review is a previously acquired dislike for Mr. Besson's work.

Thank you. Every time I hear this "unrealistic, implausible, suspension of disbelief" stuff, several "Dark Knight" scenes pop into my head.
Not a classic, but a watchable action fantasy of efficient revenge.
