Critic Review - Chicago Tribune

Like "Family Guy," "Ted" is only about its own hyperlinked pop culture references.

Good review. I disagree with your opinion, because what you mentioned as drawbacks are actually points of interest to me, but the review has been helpful for me.

Wait, did I just use a review to see if the pros or cons match up to my personal preference to determine whether or not to go see said movie, rather than using reviews and scores to strengthen my fanboy foundation regarding a movie I'd most likely love?

I must be on the wrong website.

Based on this review its an R-rated comedy about a pot smoking teddy bear, in the comedic ballpark of BORAT and THE HANGOVER

So basically the movie is awesome but you're too much of a hater to appreciate it? Sad...got a feeling someone had a tough childhood themselves

So its an R-rated comedy in the ballpark of BORAT and HANGOVER, that every other reviewer seems to think is hilarious, but you gave it two stars because it wasn't high-minded enough for you?

Actually, he didn't say it was in the ballpark of Borat, he said that Borat's jokes were inspired, whereas Ted's jokes were "omg guys, the 80s! Remember the 80s?" = uninspired.

I still want to see this, but what I hate about Family Guy is the "clever" pop-culture references

Yeah, Mike, "Couldn't agree with you more."

How, Michael Phillips, are you employed? You wrote a review for a movie by the creator of "Family Guy" by opening with "Like 'Family Guy,' 'Ted' is only about its own hyperlinked pop culture references."

That's like going to the Miami Beach and saying, "Like Fort Lauderdale, Miami Beach is only about its sand and ocean."

Hell, if I were unsure about paying to see this movie and came to you for help...call me enlightened, for there's no chance I would've guessed it was like "Family Guy," from the previews and whatnot.

That was sarcasm. I could've.

Your review is superfluous, your take thoughtless, insipid.

You didn't like hyperlinked (your word, not Webster's) pop-culture references before the movie. You didn't like them after.

Did your rag actually print that shit?

Wait, really? Seth MacFarlane's movie is like "Family Guy?"

Enlightening.

Insightful.

This is my impression of Michael Phillips reviewing a restaurant:

It has food.
