The idea of a toy that comes to life - and then won't go away - isn't a bad one. Too bad that "Ted" manages to overstay its welcome without ever really coming to life itself.
He probably walked into the movie with an open mind. Most critics do that because they aren't assholes. They just understand movies different than you do. And if the critics should be the target audience then I guess every Tyler Perry movie should be reviewed by a TP fan, and that Twilight and the Katy Perry movie should be reviewed by adolescent girls.
Half the reason I come onto this website is to laugh at all the people RAGING about how somebody disagrees with their opinion. All you children make me laugh so hard.
Yeah, it is a great idea. That's why the creators of Wilfred thought of it first. How is it that no one has caught on to this blatant lift? Go back and watch the Australian version of Wilfred, or even the American FX version from last year with Elijah Wood. Even the title is a rip-off - using the animal's name as a the title. Ted is a rip-off done far less effectively in the hands of the overrated McFarlane.
The only way that Ted and Wilfred are even slightly similar is that the title is a name. Other than that they are completely different. Ted is about a toy bear brought to life with magic and becomes his owners best friend for life. Wilfred is about a partially psychotic guy who sees a dog as a guy in a dog suit and the dog helps him learn about life and himself. I saw Ted, it was ok, nothing overly special. But Ted and Wilfred are nothing a like and saying McFarlane ripped it off is and insult to your own intelligence.
Family guy is just a copy of the Simpsons, Ted is unoriginal with failed shock comedy. If Macfarlane was a stand up comic he would be as bad as Carrot top with "Hack" beside his name.
100% agree about MacFarlane. He came into the industry with his pocket full of jokes. The good ones were used up early, and people started to catch on to Family Guy's weak tendencies. The Simpson's material lasted a longer time before audiences got disinterested. MacFarlane is now just a comedy business menace, spewing cookie cutter shows (Cleveland Show and American Dad) left and right in an attempt to connect to each and every person. You have to admire his ability to build an empire, and there in lies his intelligence. There must be some evil in him to destroy and corrupt an entire generation's comedy the way he has.
