Consensus: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is exactly as advertised: one-liners, brawls, and general silliness. Good for the young at heart, irritating for everyone else.

A live-action version of the popular animated TV series for kids. Due to radiation exposure, the four turtles have mutated into teenagers; now, they live in the New York City sewers, where they eat pizza, talk jive, and learn the tricks of a ninja from their guru, Splinter the Rat. When a group of juvenile delinquents called the Foot Gang start wreaking havoc in the city, our heroes on the half-shell join forces with an intrepid girl reporter to put an end to the gang's evil ways. Reviews for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Movie
Honestly, when I first saw the movie, I was probably around 8 years old, but the allure of the Ninja Turtles, while faded over the years, is still hard to deny. Not for all tastes by any means, it's decent enough.
Cowabunga!! Try making turtle soup out of these butt-kicking raucous reptiles. It's pure giddy excitement!
Panderingly kid-centric and obnoxious commercialism at its most profitable.
Who would have expected a great martial arts movie from guys wearing turtle costumes?
The Heroes in a Half-Shell, as they are known, have a built-in following, so movies like this are notoriously lazy. None of the budget seems to go to screenwriters with talent. It is instead spent on, er . . . creature comforts.
Parents can vaguely console themselves, however, that amid the kiddie pollution available on Saturday morning TV, the Turtles rank slightly better than the rest.
Truth be told, there's something amusingly surreal in watching these happy-go-lucky, man-sized terps engage in full-scale punch-and-kick-outs with the inevitable villains.
Joins the limited but infamous ranks of Comics Characters Who Never Should've Gotten Their Own Live-Action Movie.
This movie is nowhere near as bad as it might have been, and probably is the best possible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie.
