I am not african american and I enjoy most of his movies while recognizing they are cheesy with substantial flaws in several areas. So what. I am entertained. Think the old Sam Raimi films. It is what it is, don't go in expecting Academy Awards and don't be embarrassed if you like it. It's why pulp fiction and dime store westerns were invented. Etc
Apr 21 - 04:41 AM
Besides Friday what other BLACK comedies are out there that are well received by critics ?
Apr 11 - 05:05 PM
I think you mean Tyler Perry just stop. His movies are terrible. He can't write, he can't direct and he sure as s*** can't act. I'm a middle aged white dude and even I'm saying, especially with Spike Lee having disappeared up his own a**, THE BLACK COMMUNITY DESERVES BETTER, MUCH BETTER!
Apr 7 - 08:37 AM
The people who do go to see his movies are going mainly because they are christians not because they are black.
Apr 7 - 05:41 AM
It's a law Black people must like his films or they lose their skin colour and become white.
Apr 6 - 02:00 AM
Oh sweet Jesus... Migs, you should have known better than to start a thread like this...
Apr 5 - 04:14 PM
I mean wtf do you expect. If you're not religious and have Christian beliefs and like Black Comedy how could you like his films. Crucial fact, the best black movies that are well received either contain:
A. black on black violence (Boyz N' The Hood, Menace II Society, Clockers)
B. A movie about black people overcoming oppression from slavery, segregation, poverty etc... (The Help, The Color Purple, Spike Lee Movies)
C. A movie with a struggling black person being saved by the white person (The Blind Side)
Apr 4 - 09:16 PM
Great points, but unfortunately these are comfort zones for a lot of young black film makers. They're often indoctrinated in thinking they HAVE TO make films dealing strictly with black issues. If they don't, blacks call them a sell out. If they don't white execs can't use them to say "See, we're supporting black film makers." So we get this swill. It's not just sad, it's f**king tragic. There are so many talented young blacks with imaginations that are beyond "issues" but they're often pigeon holed into making "street" or "hip-hop" films. All ethnicity like all different kinds of music, films, and media. Sadly, if a young black dude listens to Minor Threat and eschews rap, or is really into Spike Jonze or David Lynch people, especially those in the black community look down on them as a sellout, or even worse, a traitor.
Apr 7 - 08:48 AM
You are clearly delusional if you think that's the reason why people watch his movies. Do some research, Tyler Perry has a had a huge following since he started doing plays. His fans grew and grew until he was able to obtained his own studio. I don't even like his movies, but the outcry over this man's work is beyond ridiculous.
Apr 4 - 09:03 PM
I'm not presuming anything for the reason by which Tyler Perry movies (nor his theater) is so successful. In the area of social science (i.e. entertainment industry, NEWS corporations, economics) research is often defined as strictly qualitative. However, the past few decades have shown great progression with cumulative research design by means of melding qualitative and quantitative methodologies in order to substantially dismantle barriers in real world applications (reliability and validity are augmented as a result). The 3 studies I incorporated in my first post worked alone and together in their cumulative designs to amalgamate multi-culturalism, biopsychosocial characteristics, age, ethos, etc. Also, the founders and utilizers of these progressive methods of research and data analysis bring forth a mindset different than researchers long ago and today's provincial and reactionary researchers. I'm not trying to show that Black people are mere experimental robots towards Tyler Perry's craft, I'm showing that the newly designed, newly implemented social research findings go beyond conjecture as we usually see in any blog, etc., and reach a better understanding and in some cases empathy within even the smallest of social facets.

First off there are clear indications that few films (i.e. The Lion King, Forrest Gump and The Godfather) possess universal stature (Fischoff, Antonio, & Lewis, 2008; Knobloch-Westerwick, Musto, & Shaw, 2008; Miller, 2012). These films endure time, ethnicity, age, and gender. When analyzing data there are strong indicators of race correlating and showing strong statistical significance; as in a longitudinal study by Fischoff, et al. (2008) where "by way of comparison, Black participants cited 48% of their Top 25 films espousing top-billed Black actors and/or writers and directors...as Black participants were highly partial to race-congruent films" (Fischoff, Antonio, & Lewis, 2008). A genre comparison component found that Black participants in all three studies had an overwhelming preference for Drama (56%) while it was 30% for Caucasians and 19% for Hispanics. Furthermore, Miller (2012) found Caucasians ?show an overwhelming preference for race congruence with proportions of racially congruent films ranging from 96% (Director and Writer) to a low of 87% (Supporting Cast)?.

I'm on my way to see it now...as a TP fan I am growing old of his typical cliche movies. My son really wants to see it, I'm kind of dreading it but its Spring Break and we have nothing to do soooo I really hope that I am not disappointed.
Apr 4 - 11:43 AM
I love it when someone's bold enough to call the attention of black people over a computer.
Apr 2 - 07:46 PM
That is right, these honkies are rayciss!!!! Tyler is better than Martin Luther King!!! Love him or be da rayciss!!!!
Apr 3 - 09:52 AM
It's very ironic the only people who continuously clamor about race and racism,is white people in this discussion. Hmm. You don't have to like someone to enjoy one of their films. You prob hate the film, because you think it's horrible. The reasoning behind it being horrible to you goes back to you not relating to this movie. If you did relate to it, you prob would've found it interesting. I don't support Tyler because of his color, but because of his creativity and his upbringing which is very inspiring. It's just so happen that he's black and make movies I can relate to. My personal fav director right now is indeed a white guy, Jon Favreau.
Apr 3 - 11:47 AM
LMAO, I have yet to find a single white person that thinks "OH LUUUUUUUURD" or a single minute of any Madea movie is entertaining or not cringe worthy.
This is like affirmative director approval for a hack.
HACK

I love it when someone's bold enough to call the attention of black people over a computer.
Apr 2 - 07:46 PM
couldn't agree more....especially since I'm no fan of his films....I guess that means I'm not part of the target audience....LOL
Apr 2 - 06:33 PM
If you don't like Tyler Perry you are a rayciss! You are Rayciss!
Tyler Perry is a genius! Only rayciss don't like him, because of slavery all white must like Tyler Perry or you are rayciss!!!!
Only white people who are rayciss don't like Tyler the genius!!
Apr 1 - 09:54 PM
I LOVED this movie. A lot of married couples could definitely relate. A little dramatic as usual for TP films, but hey- didn't I go to the movies to be entertained?
Apr 1 - 09:29 PM
This makes a shit load of sense.
Anyways, his films other than "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" are just whatever-type of films I'd just watch & never care for after a while. Temptation, as much as I want to watch it, looks the same, & regardless, it will be the same as what Perry does. The trailer was hot, & will probably still be better than the film itself.
Apr 1 - 07:04 PM
This.
You've made him a vast millionaire because of skin colour. How brainwasherific!
Apr 1 - 01:41 PM
Holy shit dude nobody ever said that there aren't any bad white filmmakers. Here's a few Michael Bay, Uwe Boll, Joel Schumacher (for the Batmans), Peter Farrelly (Movie 43).
Apr 3 - 12:37 AM
Holy shit, dude, I never said they did. Pat suggested that brainwashing causes black to support Perry. Does brainwashing cause whites to support Michael Bay? Blacks don't make supporting black filmmakers some special cause. If so, then Spike Lee would never have a flop. People support Tyler Perry because they enjoy his films, just as people enjoy Michael Bay's films. Black people are as equally entitled to bad taste as white people.
Apr 3 - 09:10 PM
Lol, never have I felt obligated 2 c his movies, but muster through what I can on television or on demand (free), so I will b waiting until this movies does one or d other b4 I c it.
However d message s from d movies r fine, it's d terrible acting, lack of depth with characters and d preachy overtones that disinterest me in going 2 d movies 2 c his movies. At best I think they could come on lifetime, bet or something, smh
Apr 1 - 01:04 PM
Coming into this one late, but I treat TP films like cheap, grocery store novels. I don't expect them to be anything more than they are and accept them. As so many here have already pointed out, he will continue to cater to his niche and make money. I really don't expect more from him as a director because he sees no need for improvement as long as he's filling theater seats. Whenever that fails, he will don "the suit" and do what he does best. I am not expecting a Tony or Oscar anytime soon. It is what it is.
Apr 1 - 11:28 AM
I'm not a fan of TP either. I've watched a few of his movies, a few are pretty good. But I'm truly tired of the same formula. But, I understand that the formula works for him...so why change it. I'm not mad at him. But I surely miss the old black romance movies, like "Deliver Us From Eva", "Breaking All the Rules", "love and Basketball",etc. I just want to be able to watch a nice, black, romantic comedy movie, without some kind of heavy message behind (like women getting abused by their men). I don't think I'm asking for too much.
Mar 31 - 06:48 PM
Drop the ego, Tyler and collaborate with others! Appear in other films. I liked Alex Cross. More of those. People are getting tired of the crap made church flicks.
Mar 31 - 06:00 PM
I have seen all of TP movies with the exception of one or two. And though he seems to get a lot of flack for his movies from critics, I continue to see them b/c despite the extremism of most --if not all?there is always an underlying story that is reality-based and worthy of being heard.
Mar 31 - 04:17 PM
First let me say I'm black. I was embarrassed at how silly this movie was.. It was like a high school film project, terrible acting and just stupid lines. When Bryce slams his truck door and the window breaks is really dumb. How can Perry expect us to be loyal to his films when he insults us and thinks we will fall for this kind of movie?
Mar 31 - 08:43 AM
Olympus has Fallen is probably worse and doesn't receive the same level of criticism
Mar 30 - 10:11 PM
Olympus Has Fallen is actually pretty entertaining, sure its dumb and at times a bit bombastic, but it's a fun/badass time.
Mar 30 - 11:19 PM
I wanted to see Olympus Has Fallen but the ratings on the website made me think twice! The commercial looks tight though.
Mar 31 - 05:59 AM
Bonita is correct. Tyler Perry does have a niche. His audience consists of loyal fans who seek the lowest common denominator in entertainment. Tyler Perry's only talent is giving his audience what they want. He is mediocre as a director, writer and an actor. Mr. Perry has made what, 12 movies? Can you honestly say that he has become a great director? He is NOT true to any craft. A craft is something that one has respect for. Has he taken the opportunity afforded him to develop into a skilled writer or actor? As long as his audience supports his mediocre efforts, there is no incentive for him to improve. He will continue to turn out 1-2 horrible movies each year and laugh all the way to the bank.
Mar 30 - 08:44 PM
Wow Horace...that is an interesting (and somewhat harsh) perspective! What makes TP's genre of movies any different from any other specialized genre...say Horror movies. Have you seen the Horror movies that are constantly released? There is absolutely no substance whatsoever! Yet 9 out of 10 times the Horror movie will rate #1 at the box office or bring in LOTS of money. Do you consider the producers of Horror Movies as pimps also? They have found a select group of people who LOVE those type of movies and they capitalize on it. It's called a "Niche". TP is no different. His target audience consist of primarily church-going women of color interested the topics portrayed in his movies such as betrayal, abuse and other moral life lessons. And he is smart to only focus on producing material his select fan base enjoys because the formula works. Don't hate the player...hate the game. :) PS: Let me add that I am NOT a diehard TP fan. I just appreciate his success and the fact that he is true to HIS craft and HIS audience and does not waiver by trying to be or do what OTHERS think he should do.
Mar 30 - 05:02 PM
You bring up an interesting point that I hadn't really considered before. I'm not a horror movie fan at all...I was 21 before I could even sit down and watch Michael Jackson's Thriller without closing my eyes :) If we look at it that way, what you are saying makes perfect sense. I just have to accept it for what it is and remember that the next time he comes out with a movie that I should exercise caution before spending money on it. If anything, I think I'm just frustrated because I really had high expectations for this film. I thought that this was going to be a landmark film for black eroticism. With Kim. K, and Jurnee, how could someone go wrong? But then again, how tempting can a movie be that is PG-13? That was my first mistake. Thank you for giving me something to chew on.
Mar 31 - 05:57 AM
Yea I said BLACK PEOPLE!!! Of course my post is limited to MY experience, and not everyone else. Sure, it's generalized, but oh well. I honestly don't care about who agrees or doesn't.
Mar 30 - 07:03 AM
If you don't care about people's opinions, why did you make this thread?
Mar 30 - 07:23 AM
do you see me debating with people about how they feel about tyler perry movies?? nope. reading is fundamental
Mar 30 - 10:26 AM
Actually Alcoon, the point was to simply state my opinion. There is nothing "bold" about this. Honestly, I haven't read 96% of these other people's comments they made
Mar 31 - 05:20 AM
I'm black and no I don't flock to see all of his films. I did enjoy this one and I hope he makes millions this weekend. How many other Black filmmakers are able to produce Box Office films? We only have Tyler and Will Smith. We shouldnt have to wait for Steven Spieldberg or Quentin Tarantino to make something we can relate to.
Mar 30 - 04:52 AM
You left out Spike Lee. John Singleton. The Hughes Brothers. F. Gary Gray. Antoine Fuqua. Malcolm Lee. Ava DuVernay. Kasi Lemmons. Even Bill Duke makes better films.
Mar 31 - 10:42 AM
Exactly Adam. The people who like Perry's films support the most base and salacious stories that he tells. They don't give a damn about quality.
Mar 31 - 05:09 PM
And how often do any of those filmmakers work, let alone create their unique visions? Their films don't make enough money for them to be free to follow their own visions, so they can only be hired at best to do "whatever" films.
Apr 2 - 04:45 PM
And despite that, he still is allowed to continue to create good films.
Perry wishes he had the craft that Lee has. Sure, Perry rakes in more cash consistently, but Lee creates quality more consistently. I just wish Spike Lee had the loyal fanbase that Perry has.
But I don't criticize those who enjoy Tyler Perry's movies. They aren't my cup of tea, but I don't believe his fans are stupid or "brainwahsed" for enjoying them. I myself enjoy low-budget, direct to DVD horror movies. I'm sure there are those out there who'd criticize me for that. But I think people are overreacting over Tyler Perry.
Apr 3 - 11:21 PM
DOn't say "black people" because not all black people like Tyler Perry's movies or are going to see this. Are you black? If you are, then you are addressing yourself, too. And since I assume YOU aren't going to see his movies, then you ought to drop that "black people" shit.Just say Tyler Perry fans. And btw, who the fuck are you to tell people they aren't obligated to see his movies? The type of black women that love his movies don't go to see a movie unless they really want to see it. And you know those types are very narrow in what they will pay money to see at the theater, and Perry is just about the ONLY thing they will watch. So leave them be.
Mar 30 - 03:03 AM
Same shit all the time. a black female told me I wasn't black because I don't like his movies
Mar 29 - 10:28 PM
The movie was good entertainment. No it is not a comedy. He will make a lot of money on this one. Go Tyler. Haters galore get a life. I have seen movies get Oscars that were worse than this.
Mar 29 - 07:58 PM
This wont make very much money because even the fanbase doesn't want to see it because of Kim Kardashian. And I think I've been watching a whole different Academy Awards then you have been...
Mar 29 - 08:08 PM
I can respect a man who can build an empire and produce whatever it is he wants to make. But black people deserve better material than what Tyler Perry puts out.
Mar 29 - 07:04 PM
And what do black people deserve? We sure ain't getting it. Imagine a movie like Inception with all black people as the cast. I guarantee you it wouldn't get the amount if praise it gets now. Truth is, black people is a low demographic that most don't care about. Few directors tried, but ultimately we will always be labeled and stamp to Hollywood's standards about black people.
Apr 11 - 05:04 PM
It's easier just to ignore it. I just don't see them and it's as if they never existed so they don't matter to me.
Mar 29 - 05:30 PM
I agree with Migs 100%. It pains me to say it, but this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Tyler Perry has lost all credibility with me as a director. There is literally nothing about this movie that warrants praise. Every criticism I have read is spot on. I used to believe that white people could never effectively critique black movies because they were not well-enough acquainted with the "black" experience. In other words, I used to believe you can't understand me unless you walk a mile in my shoes. I don't believe that anymore. I realize that white audiences have caught on to TP's schemes better that our audiences have. TP is a smart man who figured out who to pimp his own people. He has figured out a formula that involves black women, relationships, and church. It works every time. It works so well that he pumps out the same crap every year and we go and see it. Mainstream critics blast his movies, yet his facebook fans seem to love every piece of shit that falls out his ass. It's amazing. We need to wake up and demand more. These are talent actors/actresses. They deserve better. They should demand better, but they need checks. As long as we keep supporting this rubbish, those checks won't stop.
Mar 29 - 05:25 PM
I dont understand what was bad about the movie. and youre right, white audiences CANNOT efficiently critique black films for that reason of not having the "black" experience. I dont think tyler perry is pimping his people and casting Kimk wasn't that big of a deal to me anyway. Honestly, white critics are bashing the movie and their reasons for why its "Terrible" dont make sense. Every review somebody talks about either KimK or Tyler Perry but fail to go into the depth of the movie. I loved the movie and think it was outstandingly entertaining. All these reasons are bullshit. It was a great movie.
Mar 30 - 01:31 AM
He lost credibility with you? The fact that he even was a credible director to anyone is amazing.
Mar 30 - 03:10 AM
In all fairness, I do like several of TP's past efforts. Madea's Family Reunion is one of my favorite movies. I watch it ever time. And I think When Will I Get Married 2 was lightweight brilliant. Somehow he transcended himself in making those films. But his recent crop of films have been disasters. And he doesn't show any signs of improving. Maybe he feels he can just flip his stage plays into movies and make a quick buck. Maybe he just doesn't care. Anyone who can call this movie "entertainment" needs their head examined (unless you find women talking about matching accessories together exciting). I have been watching films for a long time and these white critics on this site look like they have been as well. If this was 1990 and we were talking about Boyz N The Hood, then I think my former stance on white critics being unable to rate black movies would make sense. At that time, we really didn't have any major black movies. But 23 years later, we have been down this road more than once. A bad movie is a bad movie. People are not as ignorant of different cultures as they used to be. Yes, as negroes we have been told that we need to support the efforts of our own directors. We were told that Spike Lee's ticket sales for Malcolm X suddenly appeared as ticket stubs for Home Alone. We have been told black dollars help create NAACP image awards. But what happens when someone takes advantage of this? What happens when someone is a con? That is what TP feels like to me at this point. He knows his core audience of church-going blacks will see whatever he makes. Therefore, he doesn't make any effort to improve. How is it this movie has a rating of 6% on the tomato meter yet, someone like Sherley Fields says its good entertainment? I'm not sure, but I do know I'm done supporting his efforts. Hell, even 1990's Def by Temptation with Kadeem Hardison was better than this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pOylFKmX7s
Mar 30 - 06:18 AM
Wow Horace...that is an interesting (and somewhat harsh) perspective! What makes TP's genre of movies any different from any other specialized genre...say Horror movies. Mar 30 - 05:04 PM
yes, its possible both the producers of the films you bring up and Tyler Perry are pimping there audience. They aren't mutually exclusive, or can't there be blacks you exploit? When there is very little to no improvement in your craft, you are open to criticism. Thats not doing what others think he should do. Do you think you are objective when criticizing his movies, or are you more concerned with defending garbage just because its marketed toward people you're familiar with and produced by a black man? With defenders like yourself, why would he improve? I guess you think "Alex Cross" was good too...
Mar 30 - 08:47 PM
People are obligated to see movies. Even if the movie sucks, people buy tickets to "support the cause." All ethnicities do it. Latinos support awful Jennifer Lopez. Even if they weren't Knicks fan, Asians bought Jeremy Lin gear. Blacks support Ice Cube?Gabourey Sidibe?Queen Latifah. Whites: Kevin Costner?Kristen Stewart?Johnny Depp. I applaud Tyler Perry for getting rich off the cause.
Mar 29 - 03:11 PM
They aren't obligated. These are the stories they want to see, with people that look like them and stories with salacious elements.
Mar 30 - 03:12 AM
Prove it. And if you won't, then you are just talking crap. You need facts to support your statement. I know a black person who SAYS "We MUST support black made movies" but he won't go to certain black cast and written and directed movies that don't appeal to him. People ultimately see the movies they want to see.
Mar 30 - 08:00 PM
If they enjoy going to see his movies, by all means let them! For me, his movies are easy to ignore. I find them inoffensive. They aren't overly advertised and their fanbase aren't a bunch of fanatics. Sure, they may suck, but obviously they have a target audience, and that audience enjoys them.
Mar 29 - 08:33 AM
What a stupid and arrogant thing to say. So you think black people aren't smart enough to know what they like? No shit they're not obligated to see it. No one is obligated to see ANY film, so what is your point? If you are indeed black, than you are giving yourself and your race a bad name. Either support it or ignore it. Stop the hate!
Mar 29 - 08:23 AM
Migs, whenever a new Tyler Perry movie came out when I was younger, my friends always dragged me out to see it. What I noticed was that half of the audience were older Caucasian couples. Although his horrible movies/plays are geared towards black people, Americans of all races go to see his movies. So if you're going to generalize, at least get your facts straight.
Mar 29 - 05:35 AM
Old folks will go see anything to get out of the house. Especially if they are seniors. They get that senior discount.
Mar 30 - 03:14 AM
Maybe you're from a different area of the country, but I'm the ushing supervisor at a local movie theater (Austin, TX) so I see every member of the audience on their way out and I can tell you with absolute certainty that the audience demographic for the movie here has been about 85% black, 10% hispanic, and 5% white. I would say the demographics for an ordinary release here are around 50% white, 30% hispanic, and 20% black. I watched the movie myself when I got off my shift on Friday night and thought it was pretty awful all-around, but I'll admit this was the first Tyler Perry movie that I've ever seen.
Mar 31 - 12:38 PM
And you are not obligated tell black people what they should or should not watch. Nobody gives a damn anymore Tyler Perry will always make movies and he will always make movies for his fans. You're not a fan so why the fuck do you care? That's like me tellin white people they aren't obligated to watch a Jackass movie.
Mar 29 - 04:47 AM
I'm white and I think Jackass is one of the dumbest pieces of shit ever made..... but not as bad as the stuff Tyler Perry puts out. *ba dum tss*
Mar 29 - 11:41 AM
All of Tyler Perry's movies are filled with stereotypes and make black people look like melodramatic morons.
Mar 29 - 11:43 AM
Okay.. So name the white movie that doesn't cast blacks as stereotypes.. I agree that Tyler Perry is not a great filmmaker. But shit movies like The Hangover or American Pie series are pumped out to great reception and no one tells the audience they should be demanding more. Either you choose to watch that garbage or not. And Hollywood will never stop making it. There are simply far less black filmmakers who can regularly crank out films so they're more heavily scrutinized. I don't like Perry's films. I don't see Perry's films. But I understand that he has an audience that are not served by much of Hollywood. So more power to him and hopefully he'll eventually improve as a director.
Mar 29 - 10:41 PM
So why doesn't he expand his horizons, he owns a studio for gods sake. Where's the black sci'fi, or black legal drama, or historical movie? Its the same stereotypical nonsense, there's no balance to his work, and its generally poorly produced. You can see the plot holes and twist a mile away. Some people don't like to hear unpleasant things about the things they love...
Mar 30 - 08:53 PM
He opened his "34th Street" division a few years ago, ostensibly to develop and promote projects by minority filmmakers not named Tyler Perry. Not one 34th Street project has seen the light of day. At this point he could just retire and start cutting checks to more talented artists -- but then it wouldn't be all about him.
Mar 31 - 10:49 AM
The point that so many here are missing is that there always have and always will be exploitation films of many genres. Cheese ball white romances like Safe Haven or The Vow. The teen vampire romance genre. Does anyone think that shit ends with the last Twilight? Bad horror movies. What Saw are we up to? And how long before they reboot Friday The 13th? Teen sex farces. Pointless action shoot 'em ups. Jason Statham has essentially made the same movie for about the past 10 years with different titles. Are any of those here griping about Tyler Perry going to Bollywood forums and telling Indians not to watch those films? To Latino forums and telling Latinos to give up their over-acted soaps? Japanese forums and griping about the nonsensical anime films and tv series? There is such a thing as African American culture. And for some folks, it involves "gossip" movies like those Perry produces. Go and gripe to Roger Corman or John Carpenter or David Lynch for producing poorly written and paced films. How many of you critics sat through and praised The Dark Knight Rises, which was loaded with plot holes. It wasn't even a satisfying action film (The boring Bats vs. Bane fights). If you trash TP but praise other bad movies simply because they're your kind of bad movies then you're a hypocrite.
Mar 31 - 09:17 PM
Oh Jeez I loved the black stereotypes excuse for criticism and every time someone brings them up, when I ask to name every damn stereotype in the movie, they don't respond.
Shut up about stereotypes. Why is that stereotypes only exist when it comes to black films. I never hear an outcry about white stereotypes on Adam Sandler movies. It's almost taboo. Like stereotypes exist only with black people. There is no such thing. Stereotypes is the most pathetic criticism of our culture, especially in entertaining. It's just masked way of the word downgrading us to nothing more than just "stereotypes."
"Oh look I see a black guy on a movie drinking kool-aid."
Let's form a stereotype: All black people like kool-aid. Absolute nonsense and fallacy.

I've noticed the white audience - white America - will only support the gangsta, thugish, stereotype plagued type of black films. If its a black film, that promotes the positive sides of the black community, then the movie is deemed either racist or garbage by white people. Remember, black people, you're only here for white people's entertainment, NOT for the uplifting of your race. When around whites, you MUST be ashamed to be black in order to be accepted. Let that sink through for a sec.

Wow. What an ignorant statement. This is not true by any means whatsoever. The only reason why the more, ahem, "thuggish" type of "african american cinema" is more critically acclaimed is because it's usually more emotionally resonant and powerful same goes for "white cinema". It's all about what conveys the most emotion and the more "thuggish" films (sometimes) do just that.

You're an ignoramus. People like you are the reason why there's still some animosity between white and black people. Read Frankie's post carefully and "let THAT sink through for a sec."
