A gripping and disturbing look at an untold story of World War II, TERRORISTS IN RETIREMENT focuses on hundreds of young Jewish Communist refugees from Eastern Europe who joined the underground resistance to the Nazi occupation of France. Despite their success in sabotaging the Nazi war machine, many of these men were ignored and forgotten by the French. Forty years later, director Mosco Boucault interviewed the survivors, who tell fascinating stories of the terror campaigns they led against the German armed forces, providing a chance for the survivors to finally tell their stories of wartime heroism and horror. The film features an unconventional and compelling narrative style by which the aging Jewish survivors actually reenact their bloody activities. This film was initially banned by French television. It provoked an uproar over the nature of the Jewish contribution to France's liberation. [More]
