I thought his voice acting was one of the highlights, along with the Owl City song at the end.

I thought he was absolutely awful, in fact if theres one thing I would have changed about this movie it would have been his voice. I usually don't mind him as an actor so I didn't think his voice acting would bother me as much as it did. His voice did not fit the character at all. I've seen many animated movies and I've never had such a severe experience of the character on screen being so bizarrely disconnected to the voice coming out of his/her mouth. It didn't sound like Grug was speaking, it sounded like Nicholas Cage was off in the background somewhere talking over Grug. I don't know if it was because of his acting, his distinct voice (which has never been a problem for me before- emma stone has a distinct voice but eep sounded like eep, not like emma stone) or the character design.

EntertainMeOrDie .

It's certainly better than his live acting, anyway.
