Movie Info

Two working-class Englishmen spend their free time arguing about greyhound-racing and Winston Churchill. They also read the papers, especially the gossip columns and Society pages. In a bar one day, they meet a film star who they've read about, and subject him to a savage, and apparently motiveless, beating.

Audience Reviews for The Local Stigmatic

An enticing, violently bleak little mid-length film. Pacino's tremendously involving performance is what draws us in more than anything - he really boasts his character exploration and vocal range here, which is always great to see.

Pacino brings his intensity, dedication, and perception to this chamber piece about two nowhere men who get their kicks finding a mark, then criticizing him for being slow to perceive their unfathomable game. A bit like two critics bursting a bubble. As the author says, it's a study in envy.
