Critic Review - Detroit News

In the end, the film is about a magical book, but you never really have a sense of what makes the book magical.

Don't trust this review, it over simplifies and lacks deep and mature vision. I would expect this from a twelve your old. While this movie is certainly enjoyable to children, the full impact will probably be lost on the younger generation.
Also Mr. Long, as a "top" reviewer, perhaps you should keep the spoilers to yourself.

What a stupid review. I love this film. In fact it reminds me of the works of Hayao Miyazaki. Of course, you probably think those are crap too you idiot.

It's the bible. They're in a monastery. The whole movie is about the bible. What... did you think the magical book was? lol

It's as magic as you can imagine it to be.

Oh come off it guys! Mr. Long is a great critic, just because he happens to disagree with you on this one film, does not not make him incompetent, or an "idiot" for that matter... Although, if you had been referring to Richard Roeper, you would be spot on.

This doesn´t look as the opinion of someone who has actually watched the film. Maybe he was busy, and just entered 15 minutes to the theatre.

The reviewer can not understand that the phrase, "The page that can turn darkness into light" is not literal.

Yeah but it would have been nice if they had at least one scene that showed how the book's knowledge gave people hope, instead of people just oohing and awing over how pretty it was. I liked the movie but the critic's right.

brush up on your art history and open your mind to imagination of what inspired people in those times.

Really? The book bring lightness into dark. To me it touches me, because as an artist, ART can bring LIGHT into the dark(or when all hope is basically lost for some).jeez this review sucks.
