Critic Reviews for The 4D Man
Below mediocre sci-fi nonsense, slow paced to boot.
A guilty, almost-campy horror delight with a most curious jazz score
It was produced by Jack H. Harris, who started a promotional campaign for the film by offering a $1 million reward to anyone who could walk through a wall.
Audience Reviews for The 4D Man
This movie is super cool, especially after seeing some really bad sci-fi movies, and in contrast to the other sci-fi movies of the fifties, this one is really spectacular. I loved it, the story is very different and new, I haven't seen many other movies like this, I highly recommend it if you like sci-fi.
A researcher (who looks a lot like George Lincoln Rockwell) is doing after-hours research and accidentally burns down the building of the company for which he works, so he forced to find work elsewhere. He gets a job as an assistant to his brother who is also a scientist. The brother follows up on the research the initial brother was doing, and ends up stealing it. They have developed a method for two objects to share space at the same time, thus allowing him to move through walls and other objects. The beatnik-jazz soundtrack was a detraction, but the brother rivalry/friendship was a nice addition making this a decent sci-fi flick from this time of many of this genre of varying degrees.
Above average 1950's sci-fi film, good special effects, creative story and well acted. Lee Meriwether is particularly good. Decent production values.
