How amazing can it be? We all just saw this movie when "Spider-Man" came out a decade ago.
The movie is a reboot. It's not the same series. You actually reviewed a movie based on the fact someone else made a movie a decade ago?
You know, I hated Snow White and the Huntsman, because I mean, they totally just MADE that movie earlier this year with Mirror, Mirror. 1/5.

Well, I think you don't take the fact that SWatH was a concept well before MM was. It happens all the time, too. Friends With Benefits was made before No Strings Attached, and the latter stole a lot of the lesser's audience.
Jul 3 - 05:53 AM
Raimi's Spider-Man and Webb's Spider-Man are not the exact same movie. This is a really good movie, and many of these critics are bashing it solely because it is a reboot.
Jul 3 - 06:00 AM
Completely agree! Andrew is the Peter/Spider-Man we needed!
Jul 3 - 07:41 AM
Isn't creativity (originality) considered when reviewing a movie?
Jul 3 - 07:45 AM
Also it's based off of source material
Jul 3 - 08:13 AM
saying this movie is the same as the 2002 spider man is like saying the Iron & Wine version of "Such great heights" is the same as the Postal Service original.
Totally different flavor and tone and to completely ignore the fact that the script, action, acting, and pretty much everything else in this movie are top notch and giving it bad reviews just because it shares some similar elements with the 2002 version is unprofessional and just plain idiotic.
TL;DR review is moronic and should get a diff. job
Jul 3 - 06:06 AM
Hah! That pretty much sums it up! This movie is not amazing! it's an ugly gay piece of shit!
Jul 3 - 06:58 AM
You're dumb for listening to critcs
Jul 3 - 08:15 AM
And you're dumb not to.
Jul 3 - 03:29 PM
"and you're dumb not to"? What? are you serious? you just negated any argument of you not being dumb
Jul 3 - 11:05 PM
I saw the Amazing Spiderman yesterday and it blew the first three movies out of the water! It was spot on to Spiderman's real origin and it was a really fun movie to see.
If you have never read a Spiderman comic before, know that all the changes that were made to the story were ACCURATE to the source material.
*Spoiler Free* Spiderman has always had mechanical web shooters, Gwen Stacy was Peter Parker's first love interest, Peter Parker was a very bright scientist NOT just a photographer.
There are many other ways that it was faithful to the comics, but I wont spoil them for anyone. GO SEE IT!
Jul 3 - 07:20 AM
You forgot that Peter was also a scientist in the Raimi version. I saw the movie last night and I actually found the original film to be closer to the comics, other than Gwen Stacy and the web shooters.
Jul 3 - 08:33 AM
other than Gwen Stacy and the web shooters? Those were both in the comics. Gwen was his first love, and the web shooters were mechanical
Jul 13 - 11:30 AM
So, wow, they made an entire new movie just to put Parker in a shiny new suit and give him mechanical web-shooters? Thank God! We needed that! Sam Raimi's version is obsolete now, so I threw the bluray in the trash.
On a side note, the mechanical web-shooters are a ridiculous concept. They have infinite web in them? And the little wrist-wrap holds enough weight to support Spiderman and semi-trucks and shit like that without breaking? Even for a comic book superhero that is far-fetched. Shooting web out of the actual wrist is where it's at. He's not like Batman. Spiderman has radioactive spider DNA in him, so at least let him act like it.
Jul 3 - 10:40 AM
If he was "acting" like a spider, I believe the web would be coming out of his ass.

Jul 3 - 01:13 PM
You have no idea what you're even talking about..
Are the shooters infinite? Of course not, in fact he runs out frequently, and it's expensive to make, which is a massive plot point in pretty much ALL Spider-Man comics.
The webbing lifespan is in fact one of Spider-Man's biggest WEAKNESSES, most superheroes have one or two, DUH..
Nothing on his wrist holds him to the web either. Nothing has to. He RELEASES the web from the shooter, and he holds that, you effing moron..
In the comics, (besides the Ultimates),the web is something Peter synthesized because he is brilliant. Yes he also tried to sell his idea for the new adhesive he developed, but because it dissolves after an hour, no one wanted to give him the time of day..
How about you go get a freaking clue, then come back and try and hang with the big boys..
Jul 3 - 11:29 AM
umm if you paid attention they said how much webbing he gets out of the shooters. Several hundred meters worth out of every little canister. Thats quite a lot. Pay attention before whining
Jul 3 - 01:04 PM
I agree the web shooters is a ridiculous concept but its true to the original comic.
Jul 13 - 11:32 AM
calm down, fan boys
Jul 3 - 07:59 AM
another asinine review
Jul 3 - 08:16 AM
they should have return spidey back to marvel, for avengers sequel.. it's a pall movie, an improved reboot maybe but nothing else.
Jul 3 - 08:35 AM
Your review just sounds like speculation, and I have little reason to believe that you even watched it.
Jul 3 - 08:46 AM
Jul 3 - 12:18 PM
Tom, did you watch the old batman with the hard nipples? Did you watch the new batman? Because they are totally the same right? And your a top critic how again?
Jul 3 - 12:38 PM
Well actually no you didn't see this movie a decade ago. The origin is similar but different enough to make it interesting. Garfield is way better than Tobey and Emma Stone is great. This is a much more engaging film and you get emotionally involved in the characters. The new spidey is leaps and bounds above the old Spidey so get onboard or GTFO
Jul 3 - 12:59 PM
That Spider-Man in worlds apart from this Spider-Man. This is the Best Spider-Man movie yet.
Jul 3 - 01:56 PM
Spider-Man 2 is still a better movie in my opinion. Amazing is second best, but still good.
Jul 3 - 02:04 PM
Its a so-so movie, but its definitely not amazing!
In my opinion, the franchise was rebooted too early, i know its been 10 years since the original came out, but hey, that movie delivered and left a good impression in almost all of us, so to reboot it this early really had an impact on how some critics criticized the film. Raimis version is still fresh in my head after 10 years, not sure this one will stick in my head that long. Don't get me wrong, there are good points in the movie, but a little more creativity on the plot would have made a big difference. Just my opinion.
Jul 3 - 03:44 PM
I'm really impressed on how stupid the fanboys are. You are complaining that the critics hate the fact that it's a reboot. You wan't it to be criticized as its "own". But why the hell do you wanna see the same film again? Why do you wan't a reboot that tells the same story? Why do you wanna see a cheap version of the old movie? The only logical explanation for all this is that are Andrew Garfield fanboys, and you wan't him as spidey.
You obviously want this movie to be successful but why? Shouldn't you like the movie for it's own merits regardless of the success that it may have? The problem with you is that you bought Sony's marketing: "The untold story" "a more accurate spiderman film". You idealized the movie so in your mind this is already the best spidey film ever even if you haven't seen it. The critics are not judging the movie because the reboot it's too soon, they judge it because the story is basically the same, it's a REMAKE!
Before you start bitching learn what the word "reboot" means, and also compare to other reboot like batman begins or even the new superman movie.
1.This is a REMAKE!
2.Sony's marketing was a lie.
3.You are gonna love the movie even if it sucks.
4.You won't have the balls to admit that the original is better.
5.If the original Spiderman film wouldn't exist, this film would be even worse because it wouldn't have the inspiration it took from the original.
Jul 3 - 04:06 PM
Im no fanboy, don't really like spiderman. I personally just liked how andrew portrayed a more cocky/witty spiderman then toby's shy wrist web shooting spiderman. Sony didn't really lie they said it was a different story...and it is, just not until the sequel. There is no reason to make a new story when all of us love the story. This new series though will be about his parents. If you stayed and saw the bonus scene after credits you'd know that.
