To take this list seriously is a joke since this list consist of critics that other critics haven't even seen or had viewed yet and vice versa since a great portion of them had already been dead, so who knows what kind of list this would've been had those same critics had lived and saw those other films as well!

i gave up on all of RT's lists when every year the top 100 horror films of all time list is released with The Exorcist (undisputedly the scariest film of all time) isn't anywhere to be found.

Hurt Locker should not even be on the list as it was certainly not a Best Picture. That is the biggest mistake the Academy ever made.

Until last Sunday...Seriously, this list is an expansion of a good article that was in the latest edition of Entertainment Weekly. If you want some substance, read that and forego this.

To be frank there's very few on this list that actually deserved to win imho. I can only wholeheartedly agree with Amadeus, The Departed, No Country for Old Men, The Godfather, etc. Maybe Slumdog even though TDK deserved it more. Also I'm having a hard time remembering 03 standouts, so Return of the King probably deserved it as well. Hands down the biggest mistake was giving Kramer vs. Kramer best pic over Apocalypse Now. While Hurt Locker is certainly an odd choice, it's not like it was a particularly strong year for movies either way. Then there was last year when The Social Network got jacked and this year Drive was completely snubbed for a bunch of weak choices. And that's just recent times... I'll be here all day if I start overanalyzing the laundry list of questionable winners. Honestly the Academy Awards aren't even worth getting worked up about. These things are subjective, but we all know these awards are bought and payed for and have little to nothing to do with giving due credit to where it's deserved. Really the best thing to do is avoid them altogether.
