RT on DVD & Blu-Ray: The Beaver, TrollHunter, and Win Win

Summary

This week on Home Video, we've got an interesting mix of smaller films -- some good, some not as good -- and thankfully, none of them are outright stinkers. That said, none of them was very widely released, so it's a good week to catch up on those films you may have wanted to see, but weren't able to. First off, there's the latest from Jodie Foster, starring a trouble Mel Gibson, and a well-received indie comedy-horror-mockumentary from Norway. Then, we have a Paul Giamatti dramedy, Morgan Spurlock's documentary on product placement, a heist comedy with Keanu Reeves, and Jason Statham's latest actioner. Lastly, we've got the cult favorite Swingers on Blu-ray and a couple of films from a highly acclaimed Korean director. Click through to read about this week's releases! Back to Article

You know, I think renting most of these isn't out of the question. Better than last week. :/

I like your priorities. See the beaver first. Than watch the movies after.

Win Win is one of my favorites this year. Check that one out. Giamatti is always excellent.

Statham is much closer to Van Damne & Steven Segal than to Bruce Willis. He Started out his career promisingly with Lock Stock & Snatch but the action stuff he's in is straight to video stuff. Sorry bro.

Nobody's learning a language to see mofoing "Trollhunter". If they do it probably follows with a suicide.

I know right that was the same thing I said. Didn't that guy use to be a big movie star? I guess The Day the Earth Stood Still was the nail in the coffin.

Just watched Blitz, and I gotta say that I'm surprised at the low tomato score - I thought it was a pretty good little flick. Nothing revolutionary, of course, since it is Statham, after all, but he does his job very well, the villain was well played and, while the film does stretch credibility harder than Octamom stretched her skin, it's an action movie at the end of the day, and it works as it should. Great rental.

Beaver was really good. Mel Gibson did a great job and the overall acting of the movie was great.

I want to see Trollhunter, Blitz, and I'll even give Henry's Crime a shot. I have a soft spot for Keanu and Vera Fermiga is in it so, at least I have some eye candy.

Say what you want about Mel's personal life, the man is a damn good actor. I'll watch Beaver to see if it's any good. I want to see Troll Hunter too. For a movie made with a $3.5 million budget the CG looks surprisingly decent. I've never heard of Blitz but I'll add it to my list of movies to check out.

I do the same; the subtitles assist in keeping up with the dialog and gives your brain deeper insight into the film . . . in addition to developing your psycho-motor skills.

Maybe you'll see it on the SyFy channel with the subtitles burned into the screen.

The Beaver looks great; a didactic film with a premise viewers can relate to and incorporate into their own lives--The Myth of Mental Illness (I'm thinking about a book title)
