Critic Review - The Atlantic

Perhaps the most interesting question arising from The Bourne Legacy is just how long the filmmakers hope to trade on the Bourne name without any, you know, Bourne.

Except, you know, this movie sets up a meeting between the two in a sequel. Remember, he see's Bourne's name carved on the underside of the bunk bed when he didn't know how many other augmented agents there were, nor their names. Then in the airport he watches the news segment about Bourne. So we are introduced to a new protagonist, we know from narrative within the movie that Bourne is still alive and well, and the stage is set for the two to meet in the next movie. This wasn't obvious to you?

As of now, the plan is to make two more movies. The next will further set up a future team up and the third will be about the two together. I believe this was on comingsoon.net a few days ago.

I'd like to add that Damon and Greengrass both want to return to the series... they're just trying to get a proper story.

This is merely the legacy of using the character Bourne from a book series at the first lens flare of the movies having close to zero connection to the source material.

This film should not be bashed for being a set up film, because that's what this is. Otherwise, if there are no more Bourne movies coming in the future. Then Tony Gilroy needs to get his head checked out.

I think Bourne Legacy is Jeremy's golden ticket to something great! Anyways it was a 4/5 for me, my review @ thechewbox.com/bourne_legacy_movie_review.html

Agree. This one is like a random or isolated piece of the the franchise. A lot viewers are disappointed. There should be another one after this where Bourne and Cross work together to dismantle the programs. Legacy was a failure.
