Critics Consensus: Rise of the Planet of the Apes is Certified Fresh
This week at the movies, we've got intelligent primates (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, starring James Franco and Freida Pinto) and a body swap (The Change-Up, starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman). What do the critics have to say? It seems we will never exhaust our collective need for Planet of the Apes movies. The 1968 sci-fi classic spawned four sequels (of wildly varying quality), a remake, and, now, a prequel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. And guess what? The critics say Rise is one of the best of the bunch, with dazzling effects, thought-provoking ideas, and plenty of action.

Total Recall: Body Switches
When Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds pee in a magic fountain and switch bodies during this weekend's The Change-Up, they won't just be setting up a bunch of wacky jokes about how being married with kids is different from the single life, they'll be extending a long Hollywood tradition. For decades, filmmakers have been fascinated with the possibilities of body-switching, and it's easy to see why: it's a premise that's equally useful for comedies, dramas, and sci-fi thrillers. For this week's Total Recall, we decided to take a look at some noteworthy examples, including a few from each of the genres mentioned above -- and some that aren't so easily categorized. New Roles for Leslie Mann, Carla Gugino
Leslie Mann has joined Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman, and Olivia Wilde in "The Change-Up," a comedy about two friends who switch bodies; in other casting news, Carla Gugino has signed on to star opposite Jim Carrey in "Mister Popper's Penguins."
