Iron Man and even more so The Dark Knight move the genre into deeper waters. They realize, as some comic-book readers instinctively do, that these stories touch on deep fears, traumas, fantasies and hopes.
BIG TIME ROGER! The big guns stepping up to the plate, and coming through! Those New Yorkers are just a thing of the past....Chicago Sun-Times to the rescue like a similar caped crusader we all know and love!
This is one of the better Ebert reviews I've read in a while. He managed to avoid plot summarizing and got down to why the film is so good. I'm definitely checking this out in IMAX this weekend.
Ebert is awesome. Plain and simple. You may not always agree with him, but at least he is always rational. He doesn't let biasm get in the way of the artistic vision of a movie.
Once again Roger you cement yourself as one of the great critics of all time, a master of the craft. You're an icon to all of us who wish to write as a proffession
It is always refreshing to read Ebert's reviews though I don't always agree with him and sometimes I admit he makes me angry. But he is honest and gives full weight to his opinions and not just some trite verbiage to make himself out to be some intellectual, jaded, cynical critic that thinks his opinion is what the world revolves around.
Instead he approaches the majority of his reviews with an open mind and not with a preconceived bias as many critics do when it comes to subjects like comics thinking that they are not a serious medium and should not be considered as such.
I hope the dark knight gets some real Oscar consideration. why should it matter if its a comic book movie or a sequel? if its an awesome movie it should get the respect it deserves.
After I started reading your reviews, that's when I started saying, you know I can do that, so I did. Just wanted you to know, even though you'll propbably never find out.

Ebert, you're an icon and, I doubt you read these comments, but I want you to know that you're one of the reasons I started writing.
