Critic Review - New York Press

The generation of consumers who swallow this pessimistic sentiment can't see past the product to its debased morality. Instead, their excitement about The Dark Knight's dread (that teenage thrall with subversion) inspires their fealty to product.

You guys should concentrate on actually kissing a girl first, then crying about a bad batman review.

What angry, pretentious, pseudo-intellectual gobbledegook this review is. He gets off on the wrong foot from the start, by claiming his age as an intellectual advantage over his younger readers ... Well speaking as an over-40 myself, that's condescending hogwash.

Funny how much time he spends worrying about what this movie's going to teach "our kids" about morality and so on ... Since when were movies for adults -- or any other art form -- obliged to preach to anybody?

He then spends a lot of time talking about what he thinks the film SHOULD have been like. I guess those that can, do: those that can't, write about it.

Yeah, okay, the other 55 critics who loved the movie are blind just like us "teenagers"...

How can we respect somebodys opinion who so obviously is biased against comic book movies?

The fact that you use the word 'teenage' and you seem to be trying to use the age factor as a reason as to why people are interested in this movie, shows just how INEPT you really are!!

I've kissed many girls, I have a job, I study, I've watched the movie in the mexican premiere and I loved it, I'm not a nerd, and let me tell you all, it's ok if there are critics that say that it is not a masterpiece, even if they sat that is not good is ok, but when you read the critics, you discover how stupid they are. They complaint on what the movie wanted to achieve and achieves. The say crap about things that they worship in other movies. And the hate is not focused on New York, is focused on New York critics.

Why is a dark movie such a terrible thing?

These kind of reviews kill me. I can't stand it when movie reviewers think that they are better than everyone else. If you don't like the movie, that is fine. You don't have to attack the people that like the movie. Some people actually like to have a good time watching a movie. I'm also getting tired of everyone thinking that the only reason people like this movie is because they are "emotionally invested" in it being a success. If we are emotionally invested, then we would be the first ones to say "Yeah, this movie was disappointing." But, no critics have been saying that it's horrible except for the majority of the New York critics and the guy from Star... But, everyone expected it from him and it sounds like everyone expected it from you as well.

Sorry to add another... I missed this part... Was he seriously saying that There Will Be Blood is a bad movie? Also, was he really comparing There Will Be Blood to The Dark Knight... I'm just making sure.

Yeah these movie critics who probably weren't even born in New York are jealous that somebody wanted to film a movie in Chicago. That sounds right....

So basically, every single person in the world is supposed to like this movie? Why do you clowns even read reviews, your mind is made up about the movie already.

This guy said that No Country for Old Men was "deeper, funnier, and stranger than Fargo..."

Huh?

Obviously this guy is clueless.

I'll be the first to ask what this guy is smoking, but what does being black have to do with it?

On topic: What is it with these New York critics?! I feel like there is some kind conspiracy against TDK involving the city of NY, Tim Burton and perhaps Joel Schumacher.

Don't hate! It's Chi-Town's time to shine!

Ha ha ha... Wow... magazines with New York in the title should just be smart and stop reviewing this movie. Seriously, they had to have know it had already become a joke by the time this was published... I mean even if the guys right why fan that fire? Clearly it doesn't matter at this point, most critics love this movie to an almost sickening degree, and everyone and the grandmother is going to be lined up to see it.. seriously... even if you didn't like it... why bother?

Holy crap. He hates almost every movie but enjoyed "The Nannie Diaries" and "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry".

I'm glad he didn't like TDK now.

"The masses' excitement about The Dark Knight%u2019s dread (that teenage thrall with subversion) inspires their fealty to product." How true, how true! Don't you see that you are merely sheep being driven to slaughter by these capitalist, corporate tyrants? We must unite to rid ourselves of the oppression of the bourgeois! Only then will the proletariat revolution be complete and our comic book-based movies will become the oasis of truth and virtue that we all seek!

"That%u2019s the point of The Joker telling Batman, %u201CYou complete me.%u201D Tim Burton might have ridiculed that Jerry Maguire canard, but Nolan means it%u2014his hero is as sick as his villain."

Yeah... that's uh.. that's the idea in the comics... Batman is crazy, why would he dress as a Bat and fight crime with his bare hands out of law if he is not?

"%u201CYou either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain.%u201D What kind of crap is that to teach our children, or swallow ourselves?"

Ahmm... movies are not school or your dad you know?? Children learn in school and with parents, movies are entertainment... did he learned to tie clowns to gargoyles and let them fall from top of a cathedral to save the girl you love? He does everything he have seen in movies because as a child he learned them by watching movies?

This guy needs to go back to his Freshman Composition class. Dumping four syllable words meaninglessly into a review does not make good writing. Every review of his that I've read sounds like he's trying to prove how smart he is instead of just reviewing the film. He must be very insecure.
