Critic Review - San Francisco Chronicle

Christopher Nolan wanted to make an action movie that was different from other action movies -- darker, more twisted, more despairing, more bleak -- and he has mostly succeeded in this latest Batman installment. He can thank Ledger for a lot of that.

What the hell is up with RT? It says that 2 "Top Critics" have given TDK a rotten review but I only see one (David Ansen's stupid @ss). Am I missing something here?

Correction, I meant to say David Denby's stupid @ss.

David Ansen is the twit who gave TDK a sore of 80 on Metacritic then later changed it to a score of 70.

I am glad to hear LaSalles positive review!

However, a note to the RT staff. I have lived in San Francisco for nearly fourteen years and this guy is no top critic. In both areas of general audience and film school alum La Salle is considered to be an absolute joke. His reviews are only read as an afterthought if at all. You might consider at least downgrading his status. Wall.E barely squeaked by with a positive rating from this guy. Im sorry Mick, but you suck.

"Its a little too long (though never boring) and confusingly (though beautifully) shot"!? WOW! So this movie is really something different wich brings me to the question my art theacher asked me back in college: what is "artistic beauty"? (and I didn't answer because didn't have the right words) and she answered: its a "Joyful WOW", its when PLEASURE is combined with SURPRISE.
According to the reviews the WOW factor is always there (not to mention the hole aproach of the comicbook genre) and so the artistic cinematic values in The Dark Knight, Consequently I think we are gonna see a beatiful artistic movie tomorrow midnight.

At least here in San Francisco Mick LaSalle is a top critic. Who is bigger than him here? That woman with the crazy hats on the morning news?

well ledger gets all the glory for this because his performance is the most memorable....he steals every scene he's in and when he's not on camera, the movie is still good but it retreats back to formula...whereas ledgers scenes take the film to a whole other level that's ranks with godliness
