It not only surpasses Batman Begins - previously considered the high-water mark of movies about the Caped Crusader - but one that magnificently transcends the superhero genre.
Agreed. I thought Batman Begins was some kind of masterpiece but I was totally unprepared on a certain level when I walked into The Dark Knight. It's gotten so much praise and credibility that it gives birth to denyers and haters who want to go against the wind and pick apart some of the minor flaws to disprove the fans, but the bottom line is Nolan crafted "the best comic book film" ever .. in terms of traditional filmmaking. It really should of won Best Picture at the Oscars and the fact is wasn't even nominated is one of the all time crimes of the Academy that ranks alongside Goodfellas not winning Best Picture back in the early 90's.
Good job Mike. I'm a little late to the party. If they would've have made Bale's voice sound like a 20 year chain smoker, I would put this way past 'Begins'.. even though the first kicked some major tail!
