Adam Nayman, you might just be a bit retarded. this movie was not to be over-analyzed like you have been doing, it was meant to entertain, which is exactly what it did. Your comparing "The Dark Knight" to something like "The Kings Speech", or any other meant to think movies, when this is based on the DC Comics. Remove your review and change your career.
This isn't even a film review. This is just some guy venting his frustration that a lot of people don't dislike the same film he does.
A film review is supposed to be examining the merits of a film itself. Not ranting about how the fact that so many people like it makes you angry, because that is external from the film.
It's okay to not like it and give a negative review. That's perfectly fine. But, please do just that: give an actual review. A review about the film. List the things you disliked about it. But don't just rant about how "hordes of people" liking it irks you, because that is a review on the reviewers of the film, not a review on the film itself.
People can say what they want, but this reviewer actually has some reasonable backup for his points, and this is from one who absolutely adores this film. There are parts in the movie where the logic can be shaky, but I generally suspend my disbelief because the sum of its parts is really that good from my perspective.
I will say though, that I found the reverse-racism bit annoying. That's not exactly something that came out clearly in the film, and I certainly did not see that at all after the multiple views of it. It smacks of bias on the part of the viewer, not the filmmaker. Not to say that there's any racism involved, but people are prone to trying to read a lot more into the little things.
I just saw this movie for the first time. It was OK. Some of the acting bothered me like when the police were getting fired at by a bazooka. They didn't seem as freaked out as the situation warrented. There were a lot of under rated reactions in situations like that where the dialouge was dry. Rachel didn't seem that likeable. Dent's decent into insanity seemed a little sudden and contrived to. He should have been more wacked out if it happened that fast. Some action scenes were predictable, some were clever. Heath Ledger was fine but did not do this amazing acting job that's mind blowing or something. I've seen much better.
Just because a critic does not like a movie does not mean the direction is poor or the perfomances were ill. Adam Nayman is a hippocrate, oh that is what he is ; hackneyed, tilted and ill-esteemed overrated "Reverse Shot" mister. Also, Nayman coula have found other ways to solve his Attention Deficit Disorder problem.
I feel sorry for the person who wrote this, I would imagine that in most walks of life he is generally ignored, by being so outrageous and controversial he can finally gain what he craves, some much needed attention. This is more a personal cry for help than a balanced film review, therefore RT I feel it should be removed.
I know everyone has a right to their own opinion, and that we all have different tastes, but whoever says the Dark Knight is flawed and overrated should`t be reviewing films because they don`t know what good films are.

I'm guessing this follower of European movies is mad that this movie had no french actors.
Or was the film not indy/hipsterish enough?
